Rather than begin the next entrance for our main event, here tonight, a video instead begins playing on the titantron, and quickly also begins to be shown on the camera for the audience at home. We see a wide, panning shot of a gorgeous Scotland hillside, with one lone figure that can be barely made out walking along. The camera pulls in closer, and the lone figure is none other than one of the two men about to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship, Aiden English. Aiden has what appears to be full backpacking gear on, and a small slip of paper in his hand. Aiden occasionally glances at the paper confused, before continuing his trek. The camera cuts at several points, sparing us the overall length of however long his journey actually has been. Finally, Aiden comes to a spot where there is what appears to be a shack of sorts in the middle of a clearing. Standing next to the shack is a man with a rather long beard, standing perfectly still, as if waiting for someone. Aiden looks at the slip of paper in his hand once more, before walking toward the man.
{Aiden English} Excuse me, is this-?
Old Man Aiden English.
Aiden takes a step back, surprised that the man knows his man. The man simply looks up at Aiden and begins to laugh softly to himself, clearly noticing the shocked expression on his face.
Old Man Don’t be surprised, I know the names of all who come here. After all, in order to require my…. services you have to have made quite a name for yourself.
Old Man Well, don’t mind me. Just walk behind my humble little abode here, and what you’re looking for will be right behind.
Aiden still looks a little taken aback from this whole setup, but is eventually able to somewhat regain his composure. He begins to make his way behind the “abode” for whatever reason it was he came here in the first place, before stopping suddenly to ask the old man a question.
{Aiden English} Is it true what they say? That it-
Old Man Washes away your sins? Well, why don’t just go find out.
Continuing behind the small shack, Aiden finds a large trough of water waiting for him, appearing to be boiling. Aiden walks around the edge of the container, running his hand slowly along the edge. At one point he puts his hand in slightly, only to quickly recoil, likely as a result of the heat of the water. After making his way all the way around the trough, Aiden is clearly looking reluctant to do whatever he’s about to do. Eventually however, he mutters something under his breath and begins to remove his equipment and clothing, before eventually wearing nothing more than his wrestling tights. Aiden begins to slowly lower himself into the trough, allowing the camera to pick up for the first time that the water is in fact quite deep. As Aiden lowers himself into the water, he screams out in pain as a result of the burning water coming into contact with his skin, and begins to flail around in the water. Eventually he adjusts however, and submerges himself completely in the water, eyes closed. For a little bit he simply lays dormant underneath the water, almost as if he was dead. All of a sudden however, it seems that many voices from Aiden’s past spring up, practically all at once. Drew Mcintyre, Matt Sydal, Eli Drake, Sami Zayn, BNB, Renee Young, Corey Graves, Mauro Ranallo, Layla, Vince Mcmahon, D’angelo Dinero, D-Generation X, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Lana, & Rusev. All of these voices are all talking at the same time, some screaming, some not. Some loud, some quiet. But they’re all chasting Aiden for something. For not being good enough. For being a coward. For being bizarre. For everything he’s ever done. All of a sudden Aiden rises straight up out of the water with a gasp, and seems unable to catch his breath. He continues to gasp, while looking around at the ground surrounding him, making sure of his surroundings. Finally, Aiden looks directly at the camera. While at first he remains out of breath, eventually a smile begins to form on his face, until eventually we cut back to the arena.
As Aiden English theme plays, his actual arrival to the arena is finally signalled. Aiden wastes no time making his way from out behind the curtain, clearly not trying to waste any time here tonight. He gets a positive reaction from the crowd, but not as much as usual. It’s clear that while the crowd doesn’t have a problem with him, he’s certainly not their favorite here tonight. Already having made his way to the ring, Aiden has paid little attention to his surroundings, just making his way straight to the ring. However, as he’s entering the ring he finally looks to the crowd and smiles, knowing full well the situation he’s in. However, if what we just saw is actually true, than Aiden English right now is a man with his sins washed away, who has no concerns on his mind right now other than winning the World Heavyweight Championship. Once fully in the ring, Aiden makes his way to his corner, ready to get things going.
The crowd erupts into a frenzy of boos as the theme belonging to the “Wrestling God” fills their ears. No time is wasted before JBL walks out onto the stage with the World Heavyweight Championship draped over his should. He smiles and waves to his fans as he begins to make his way down to the ring.
Corey Graves Ladies and gentlemen, OUR World Heavyweight Champion, John Bradshaw Layfield!
Mauro Ranallo He’s not my World Champion Corey. I can’t wait for that championship to be ripped from his grasp here tonight.
Renee Young Agreed. The only question is, will it be Aiden or will it be Drew?
Corey Graves are you two crazy? Have you not heard or seen JBL’s track record? His accolades surpass nearly everyone on the XWL roster!
Renee Young Well when you have a team of slaves doing your bidding, it’s probably pretty easy.
Mauro Ranallo What has he actually done by himself Corey?
Corey Graves Won every single champion he’s ever held. Became general manager of Anarchy. I can continue if you’d like.
Mauro Ranallo/\Renee Young No!
JBL has by now made it into the ring. He looks to Aiden and begins to chuckle and shake his head before lifting the WHC high into the air for all to see, he is THE man.
The theme begins for the last man to enter this contest. The crowd erupting in cheers for this is the home country of the Titanium Tyrant. This is his homeland and here, he is king. Drew himself emerges from the back, clad in what one would take as battle armor. Painted blue and black with hints of white, it scream Scottish pride as Drew throws his hair back, looking to the ring with ill intentions. He looks around at the Scotland crowd, nodding as they cheer him on, then turns his eyes back to the prize.
Corey Graves Listen to this ovation for the Prodigal Son's return home!
Mauro Ranallo It's no secret who this crowd is behind tonight!
Renee Young Well of course, it's his home!
Drew makes his way down the ramp, taking little to no time hitting the flat part at the bottom. He stands feet away from the apron, looking to the ring and the men within in, the look of determination across his face. He jumps up onto the apron, climbs the turnbuckle and lets out a war cry. The crowd mimicks, loving every moment Drew makes his entrance. He then jumps off the top rope, into the ring. He removes his shoulder piece, leaving only the breastplate and the kilt he wore to the ring.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, introducing first, the challengers. First, hailing from Chicago, Illinois, he is the one and only, Aiden English!"
Aiden takes his pose, taunting to the crowd who cheer for him, but not as loud as they just were. He's loved, of course. But not the hometown boy.
"Introducing second, from Ayr, Scotland. He is the Titanium Tyrant himself, Drew McIntyre!"
The crowd erupts, cheering for Drew his throws his arms up, yelling to the crowd.
"And finally, the Champion, from New York, New York. He is the Wrestling God, JBL!"
JBL hoists his title into the air, the crowd booing him before the introduction is even completed. The ref takes the belt, showing it to each challenger and then raising high in the middle of the ring. He then calls for the bell as the match begins.
Spoiler:
With the German out of the corner Drew falls back, landing in the corner itself, exhausted. He looks around, the crowd cheering for him as he knows what to do next. He begins to stomp, causing Aiden to slowly rise to his feet. As he does, Drew begins to run but is blindsided as JBL collides with him. A huge shoulder block that sends Drew into the ropes. McIntyre rolls to the outside, JBL clawing to grab at him but failing.
JBL's face goes from anger to shock as Aiden slides under his, hooking the groin area and rolling backwards. A school boy has taken place, not the first in the match but potentially the last. The ref drops to the ground, counting only to two before JBL powers out. Aiden and JBL both hit their feet, Aiden taking off running, JBL ducks the clothesline, Aiden coming on the backswing but stopping dead as JBL had followed him. Aiden turns around right into a clothesline from JBL. One of the nastiest in the business. Aiden is turned basically inside out as JBL smiles evily at the crowd who jeers him.
Instead of covering, JBL drags Aiden up, placing him between his legs. He's setting up for the powerbomb here, adding insult to injury. But this, was a mistake. JBL drags his thumb across his throat, smiling as he does so. However once more, his face contorts into shock, this time as Drew McIntyre, or rather his boot, comes flying at the face of Layfield.
WHAM!
The kick heard across the world as McIntyre dives onto JBL, nodding with each count. Aiden, down for the count can do nothing as the ref's hand hits the mat three times. The crowd explodes as Drew throws his hands up off of JBL as the ref grabs the title and presents it to him. The crowd can be heard, drowning out the music of McIntyre as he drags himself to his feet and holds the title high. As International Incident closes we are left with one image.
