XWL Breakdown: 2/13/15 - 2/20/15

Exclusive backstage footage shows Itami and Balor doing warm ups and fin-nicking with their wrist tape/kick pads.


The two seem prepared for the battle about to happen between them.

After making their way to the ring during a massive wave of chanting from the fans surrounding the arena based off their illustrious entrances. The debut match of these stars is underway

Which ONE of these competitors will pull off the victory?

XWL comes back from commercial break, revealing the ring, which contains a table with chairs on either side of it. The camera then turns to the announcers table where only Cole and Ross are shown.

Welcome back ladies and gentlemen, we are just moments away from the contract signing between AJ Styles and Eric Young.

{{Jim Ross}}
I have to say I'm pretty excited Cole.

{{Michael Cole}}
I am too even though I am not fond of Young, I still think this is going to be one of the biggest matches on the PPV card. Let's move to the ring, where the King, is hosing this contract signing.

The camera fades over to Jerry Lawler, standing at the head of the table.

{{Jerry Lawler}}
Ladies and gentlemen, it's now time for us to have the contract signing between Eric Young and AJ Styles. As you know, AJ Styles will be deciding the stipulations.



The crowd comes to life, cheers galore for the theme song of the one and only Eric Young. Just a few moments pass then out comes Eric Young, dressed differently than normal. He is done up in a suit, and tucked under his arm, is a bucket, full of chicken. Young waves to the fans, moving down to the ring, not bothering with his full entrance but more focused on the task at hand. He enters the ring, making sure not to spill his chicken, then rounds the table. He sets his bucket on the table itself, the extends a hand to Jerry. Two duo shake hands, then Eric asks for a mic. One is brought to him, as he looks around.

{{Eric Young}}
Welp. I got all dressed up. I got my complimentary chicken, and I'm ready to sign this contract so I can kick AJ's ass. Let's do this!

Young plops down in his chair, leaning back, awaiting AJ Styles.







The crowd erupts in a mixed reaction for AJ Styles. The lights dim, the arena effects take place... Then, nothing. AJ doesn't come out. The theme stops, and, so do the effects. The camera comes back to the ring, where Lawler brings up his mic.

{{Jerry Lawler}}
I'm, uh... I'm not sure what's going on.

{{Eric Young}}
Oh, don't worry, I do. I expected this. But, I have a back-up plan.

Eric points to the stage, and once more, the theme hits.



The lights dim again, and this time, out comes somebody, holding, what would appear to be a cardboard cut-out. Some of the members of the crowd get a kick out of it, while others are completely unsure of what to do. The lights come up to show Matt Striker carrying a life size cardboard cut out of AJ Styles, out to the ring. He even holds it up, as though taunting for the crowd, before getting in the ring. Striker places AJ next to the chair that was set up for him, then back into a corner..

{{Eric Young}}
Please, have a seat AJ. Oh, you'd prefer to stand? Suit yourself then. Me, along with everyone in here would love to know, what are the stipulations you have planned for Uprising?

Eric leans in, as though really intrigued. But, of course, he gets no response.

{{Eric Young}}
What? A two out of three falls, falls count anywhere match!? That's nuts. These people will love it, and I'm sure going to love beating the crap out of you.

Eric sits back, as though Styles had just say something to him.

{{Eric Young}}
What a jerk! Injure me again? I mean, you did so well the first time, didn't you? Considering that I'm still here.

Young rolls his eyes now.

{{Eric Young}}
Big talk coming from a guy with Justin Beiber hair.

Young jumps up, backing up as though AJ was about to attack him. While the cardboard cut out stands, doing nothing.

{{Eric Young}}
Calm down, there will be plenty of room for this at Uprising. Shall we sign the contract? Come on Jerry, make him sign it.

Lawler, who looks fairly confused, looks to AJ.

{{Jerry Lawler}}
Sign it on the dotted line, Mr. Styles.

Here's where Striker comes into play. Striker moves AJ to the paper, leans him closer to it, then signs the paper himself in AJ's name. Striker then replaces AJ, and backs up to his corner. Young then pull the contract to him, quickly writing his name and slamming the pen down.

{{Eric Young}}
Welp, there you have it. We'll fight in a week time. Hopefully, the real AJ will show up to that because as much fun as it is talking to a picture of the guy, I'd much prefer my chance to see him, face to face. Would you like some chicken, Jerry?

Young stands up, gesturing to the chicken when suddenly, he is knocked forward. AJ Styles, the real AJ Styles has entered the ring, beating Young to a pulp. Young, caught off guard, doesn't get the chance to react as AJ beats him, stands him up, then sets up for the powerbomb. Styles powerbombs Young right through the table with ease, Young folded up and broken. AJ then moves to the contract which fell to the ground, picking it up and actually signing it, setting up for their match at the PPV. Styles makes his leave, not looking back as Striker tends to his best friend.

The referee goes to raise Dean Ambrose's arm but he rips it out of the ref's grasp. Ambrose marches over to the ropes and grabs himself a microphone as Bryan Danielson rolls out of the ring onto the cold arena floor. Ambrose paces back and forth in the ring, he kepts twitching in his neck, he places his hand on his chest and starts tapping his finger as a deranged smirk slowly reveals itself on his face



[Dean Ambrose]
That was just a little reminder to those who like to forget just what Dean Ambrose is capable of. I just took the internet darlin', I took the apparent "Greatest of all time" and I kicked his head in! A little reminder to those out there, a little taster of the talent that I possess and you better believe that this is just the beginning, this is just the start of the downward spiral for the talent in this company because now you know I cannot be stopped, I can't be hurt! Look at me! Bryan kicked me in the head pretty good a couple of times and I'm still smiling ear to ear! I live for this! I crave this! There isn't a soul alive who enjoys this as much as I do!



[Dean Ambrose]
Which brings me to a little injustice because Uprising is just around the corner and I have had no word that I will be competing, I have had no word if I am booked. Hell, I haven't even been invited to the building. So maybe I go in the back and cause a little trouble for myself and give them no other option. Maybe I go backstage, kiss a little ass so I can find myself in a nice little spot on the care. Maybe I ask a former brotha' who is in real tight with the higher ups if he can do me a little solid and get me on the card, hell with the type of pull he has these days maybe it will even be for a Championship. Maybe...



[Dean Ambrose]
Or maybe I just bust through those doors come Sunday, I walk down to this ring and I ruin some poor souls night by taking out all my frustrations from the constant INJUSTICES that I have suffered on them... Whatever I choose, you can guarantee two things...

1. I will be at Uprising,no matter who gets in my way.
2. At the end of the night, you will all be talking about Dean Ambrose



Dean throws the microphone up in the air and before it even hits the ground he has left the ring, the fans seem to be behind the Lunatic Fringe and are in anticipation to see just what he has planned for Uprising. But he doesn't hang about to bask in their praises, Ambrose marches up the ramp and disappears behind the curtain. Fired up, unstable, you can only pity the man that Ambrose has his sights set on and there is one man who is the odds on favourite for that displeasure.

Breakdown cuts to ringside to the commentators table

Welcome back to Breakdown, Earlier this week I got the chance to join Seth Rollins for this exclusive interview...Let's take a look.


The video then plays showing Michael Cole sitting along with Seth Rollins, Seth has the Intercontinental Championship sitting across his lap



[Michael Cole]
Seth, Thanks for joining me. I along with the XWL Universe is wondering about your thoughts on what occurred last week. It seemed like Alex Shelley had the match won but an handful of tights helped you pull Shelley's shoulders to the mat...Leaving many fans still thinking you shouldn't be Intercontinental Champion...How do you address that?



[Seth Rollins]
Hold on, did you say Alex Shelley had the match won? Alex had nothing won, the result was never in doubt. Alex Shelley had to beat me...and yet again he failed to do so, that's why I'm sitting here STILL Intercontinental Champion...Yet despite that, Despite for past two weeks Alex couldn't beat the Champion...The Board of Directors still refuse to recognize me as the true Champion. They won't even put my face on the banner on XWL.Com. I know I'm the true Champion, Stephanie knows I'm the true champion. The fact I even had to face Alex Shelley last week was bad enough, now tonight I'm supposed to team with Damien Sandow? Damien Sandow hasn't earned the right to be my tag team partner.



[Seth Rollins]
Not only that, Yet again I have to face Alex Shelley. I'm tired of playing these games, I'm tired of the board of directors thinking they run this show. Stephanie runs this show, she's the one I answer to not a bunch of old men sitting around their office on some sort of power trip. They're too concerned with "Giving the fans what they want" that they don't protect their superstars, the superstars like me that line their pockets with money. I'm the future of this company, I'm the one who's going to take this business main stream, they should be protecting me from Alex Shelley, they should be protecting me from that lunatic Dean Ambrose. But if stepping into that ring once again with Alex Shelley is what it takes to finally send him to the back of the line where he belongs, then so be it. Damien Sandow just needs to stay out of my way and keep his  focus on that dinosaur Kevin Nash.



[Michael Cole]
You've made your intentions over the past couple of months clear, you just see that Intercontinental Championship as a stepping stone to the World Championship. Despite the fact you are yet to win a match to earn that Championship, next week the first Pay Per View of the New Era of XWL..Uprising. You are yet to have an opponent for that Intercontinental Championship...Any challengers in mind?



[Seth Rollins]
Look, It makes no difference who I face...After Uprising, the Board of Directors will have no choice but to finally recognize me as the Intercontinental Champion. My face will be on that front of XWL.Com, my name will go down in history. This is just the beginning of the title reign that will break the record of the oh so great, Shawn Michaels. People can doubt me all they want, but I'm the future, I'm exactly what is best for business.....Everyday I get told I sold out, I didn't sell out...I bought in. Stephanie made me an offer I couldn't refuse, So I invested. I invested in my future...and It's already paying off. I'm sitting here having accomplished more in the past month than I did my entire XWL Career prior to that.



[Seth Rollins]
Alex Shelley is going to be in the past after tonight, Then I look forward to the future. Whoever it is put in my way, It makes no difference, their face will be curb stomped into the mat because that's what's best for business.


A smirk comes across the face of Seth Rollins as he stands up from the chair, He lifts the Intercontinental Championship upon to his shoulder before walking off screen

The cameras cut back to the announce table where Michael Cole is seen looking a little smug.

[Michael Cole]
Folks, I also had the displeasure of having to interview Alex Shelley, something about giving both sides of this issue equal time to express their opinion or some garbage like that. I’m going to warn you folks, you already know how Shelley is. This interview was filled with a lot of terrible jokes, dated references and something about Shelley being the rightful owner of dodgerblue. This is the perfect time for you all to head to the bathroom or make a snack, but if you want to torture yourself then here’s the stupid interview.

The cameras cut to a similar backstage setup that was seen when Cole was interviewing Rollins. Cole has a scowl on his face, while Shelley smirks and after Shelley dramatically clears his throat, Cole gets on with the interview.



[Michael Cole]
All right, Alex, let’s just get this over with. You probably think you deserve another shot at the championship, don’t you? Even though it’s clear that you don’t deserve much of anything around here.

[Alex Shelley]
You’re right, Mike, and thanks for having me, by the way. I don’t deserve a shot at the title per se, but that’s in the same realm as Seth not deserving to hold it, or you not deserving to take JB’s place as my interviewer. Seth likes to talk about how I never beat him, and sure that’s technically true, but there are two sides of that argument that he’s conveniently forgetting: I never lost to him either.

[Michael Cole]
But that wasn’t the point of those matches, Alex. The point was that if you wanted to be the champion, you would have pinned him or made him submit in the middle of the ring. You didn’t and now it’s time to move on.

[Alex Shelley]
On the contrary, I’m not going anywhere because I had a word with the higher ups in this company…



[Michael Cole]
You mean you tattled like a school child?

[Alex Shelley]
I mean that if Seth is going to hide under Stephanie’s skirt, I’m going to fight fire with fire and that main event match was no coincidence. If Detroit’s Finest pulls out the victory then we’ll get our shots at the Intercontinental and United States championship respectively. We’ve all seen what Seth is like, and I’ve had enough run-ins with Sandow to know that those two are a match made in heaven.

[Michael Cole]
Who do you think you are going above our General Manager’s head like that? She makes the rules, she decides who fights who and when and she’s the one who signs your paycheck.

[Alex Shelley]
Who do I think I am? I think I’m Alex fuckin’ Shelley, who has been fighting three years to win that Intercontinental Championship and I’m not going to have that dream crushed because Seth Rollins is too much of a pussy to fight me like a man.



[Michael Cole]
Need I remind you that children are watching this show?

[Alex Shelley]
I’m sure your kids hear much worse outta your wife when you stumble through the door at night. As far as I’m concerned? Seth is playing with fire. He knows that he can’t beat me; those fans know he can’t beat me, and Stephanie sure as hell knows it which is why she’s been allowing those non-decision endings to stand.

[Michael Cole]
And say by some miracle your team wins tonight. What’s stopping Seth from “running away” again?

[Alex Shelley]
Well he can try, but when Team Detroit wins, there will be a contract signing and on that powerful little piece of paper it will read that “There Must Be A Winner.” Seth can pull out every trick in the book, but the match will just keep getting re-started until somebody is pinned or somebody submits. Seth doesn’t give a damn about that title, but I do. Some of the best in this business have held it and I want to add my name to that list. I want to leave my mark with that belt and if I have to do through Seth and Steph to do so then so be it. They can only run so fast before the bullet catches up to them.

Shelley points his fingers at the camera and “pulls” the trigger before Breakdown fades to the next segment.

Breakdown returns to the theme of Big Sexy, playing over the speakers. The crowd cheering for him as he comes out onto the stage, mic in one hand, the other hand in his pocket.



[Michael Cole]
Great, this old guy.

[Jerry Lawler]
Do you mind? Nash is a legend in this business.

Nash brings his mic up, looking out at the crowd.

[Kevin Nash]
So, in case you missed it, Alex Shelley just informed everyone that tonight, if me and him, Detroit's finest, come out on top, then we get ourselves some title shots at the pay per view. That's good for me, due to a number of thing. First, is that I'll be getting some more money in my pocket. With the gold, comes a bigger paycheck, and hey, I love money. Second, is the fact that I get to kick the crap out of Damien Sandow.

The crowd let our their discontent for Damien, as Nash continues.

[Kevin Nash]
Now, when I came back to the business, I wasn't expecting a party, but I was expecting these young guys to try and bark up my tree. Damien was the very first, coming out and bringing up my abilities to be a father. Now, I'm not the best dad or husband on the planet, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let some uppity try and tell me how to handle my personal life. So I knocked him out cold. And, for good measure, I jackknifed him. I figured that would be the end of it. All was said and done, but nope. Sandow went and got a restraining order. What an idiot. Who gets a restraining order in wrestling? So I ripped it up. He attacked me and made his point. So tonight, I get to get a little bit of revenge, and I get me a title shot. Not too bad.



[Kevin Nash]
The third reason this is a good thing is because as of late, a couple of the guys in the back, and some of the people in the crowd, think I'm too old for this. That, I can't keep up with the younger guys. Well I get to prove that not only can I keep up, but I can out do, the younger guys. These punks in the back, trying to kick me to the curb aren't getting it, but once I have that strap around my waist maybe they will. I'm going to go back into the back now, strap up my boots, then get ready to kick some ass because Detroit's Finest, are going to the PPV to win some titles.

Nash turns away, heading off to the back to go get ready.
