XWL Breakdown : 4/18/2014- 4/25/2014

The breakdown opening video plays across the arena, as Breakdown comes on the air! Fans are out of the seats excited for upcoming show...They're waiting the traditional opening Pyro when suddenly....















Instead of the traditional opening Pyro, they see Bray Wyatt sat in his rocking chair, still wearing the shirt stained with Triple H's blood from the brutal attack last week. Luke Harper and Erick Rowan are standing at either side of Bray as he rocks back and forth, before coming to a halt and speaking



[Bray Wyatt]
Why Bray Why? The voices all around are asking that question..Why did we attack D-Generation X? You people want the answers...Well I have the answers! We didn't attack them to hurt them...we attacked them to save them! Save them from what they have become! They're in decline, and WE are going to make them see their mistakes...D-Generation X was once rebellious, they was once like me! But now...now they're one of you. They pander to you people! They want you to cheer for them! DX is like an abandoned house..Kept around it for its novelty rather than its usefulness. ...WE are going to change that! WE are going to bring them back..to the dark side..we are going to tear down that abandoned house.

The camera pans momentarily to Luke Harper, who has been standing idly by until this moment holding the lantern.


[Luke Harper]
And in this abandoned house, there are two old, forgotten rotting corpses... it's time to bury those corpses once and for all...

A sick smile comes over his face as the camera focuses back on Bray.


[Bray Wyatt]
You people don't realise what you've done! You've caused this! You've brought this upon Shawn Michaels..You've brought this upon Triple H! Because of you! You people did this to them. I'm just sending them a message, Just bringing them a message from above! You people are the cause of the pain..the anguish inflicted on your all your heroes...and it's up to me to inflict that pain... I am saving D-Generation X from themselves..From all of you.


[Bray Wyatt]
You all live in a world of lies! Lies from your heroes...They are just playing the hero, they just want your approval! But deep down they're all using you..using to get success because they can't make it on their own! They rely on you people to give them the power, to give them the strength! I get my power...from Sister Abigail, I get my strength from above! I don't need to pander to you people...but I need to save D-Generation X from people...You eat it up, you buy into their story because you people live in a fantasy world but because of me ....there is no fairy-tail ending! I will put an end to all of this..I will put an end to all of your false heroes! Are you ready?....No...Shawn..Hunter, Are You Ready...TO FOLLOW THE BUZZARDS!


Bray  begins to rock back and forth on his rocking chair and begins to sing as Harper whistles along in the background...

And now, the end is near, And so I face the final curtain My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain I've lived a life that's full I traveled each and every highway  And more, much more than this I did it my wayyyyy



Bray continues to rock back and forth but now sadistically laughing.

Tonight former Divas Champion Layla invokes her rematch clause, and challenges the woman that dethroned her at Final Stand, Paige. A graphic promoting this huge match displays on the screen, leaving us to wonder in this moment, how it'll all play out.





The next thing we see is Byron Saxton standing alone as he sets up for an interview, but with who?




[Byron Saxton]
Ladies and gentlemen, tonight on a rare occasion, we will see The Divas Championship defended. New and first time champion Paige, is set to take on the former and more established champion Layla. Last week after the two came to a verbal meeting in ring, Layla dropped an oh so fitting bombshell on Paige when she revealed that her rematch wouldn't take place at Dead Mans Hand as one would expect, no she wouldn't wait until then, she would put her former friend on short notice, setting the important date for this week. Now at Final Stand, Paige did defeat Layla, in impressive fashion, with a submission that we've never seen before, especially not from her. But last week saw a side of Paige we never knew existed. The very idea that Layla was so confident to get her rematch right away, even after being forced to submit on the grand stage, visibly shook Paige to her very core. Has she recovered? Has she gotten her head clear of the initial shock? Or has Layla's unexpected strategy sealed the deal on her fourth reign as champion? That's what we will find out tonight, but first please help me welcome by guest at this time, the lovely challenger herself, Layla!

Stepping from the right side of the camera, Layla joins Byron but before he can greet her, or pose a question, she chimes in.




I believe "lovely" next champion has a better ring to it, Byron.


Playfully laughing after delivering that last line, a smile forms on Layla's face as Byron has a little chuckle himself.


[Byron Saxton]
Layla it's a pleasure to have you here with me right now, you're always so bubbly, so confident...what makes you stay positive after something like what happened at Final Stand?




Well, this isn't my first night on the job, I've been here since this company's inception. I've seen faces come and go, but what never changes is the feel of it all. You're always going to have someone that thinks they're the best thing in the world, I've filled that role myself before, did a pretty good job of claiming such things if I do say so myself...but at the end of the day, everyone wins, and everyone loses. You have your good days and you have your bad, but as cliche as this may sound, the sun will come out tomorrow.




Paige thinks she's "turned a page" and started a new chapter. But in all actuality she's just following the same story that's always told. Like for example, Brie Bella several years ago won The Divas Championship for the first time, the next week, someone dropped a "bombshell" that she would be defending that title sooner than she expected to be. Which no doubt played a big role in her losing the title. Now I'm not saying that's what will happen to Paige tonight, but history does love to repeat itself. See there's two stages to a match, the pregame, and the match itself. If you have someone mentally defeated before the bell rings, odds are they're not going to "kick out" of that mentality and thus they won't be themselves. Paige thinks she's hot stuff now because she won The Divas Championship. But what she doesn't realize, is that the fun has only just begun, speaking from experience of course.



[Byron Saxton]
That's actually a very smart way of looking at things, you are really the veteran diva here, does that give you an advantage? You've seen pretty much everything that can happen, you've been apart of a lot of it yourself, does that help you tonight?




Paige had an edge at Final Stand, because she had everything to gain, whereas I had everything to lose...sort of. But tonight, I know all of her tricks. I know that submission is there, that it can happen, so you best believe that I'm ready for it this time. The element of surprise is no longer hers, it's mine. She didn't expect tonight, she thought she'd have a few weeks to enjoy her reign, but like a good friend I'm giving her the gift of payback.

[Byron Saxton]
Was this your plan all along, or did Paige's behavior last week lead you in this direction?




I won't lie, I thought about it, but really all last week was about, was showing credit where it was due. She did something unbelievably great at Final Stand. As a former friend of hers, and fellow competitor, it brought a smile to my face even in defeat to see a dream come true, to see hard work pay off. But her attitude last week, it just took that smile right off my face. I mean how are you going to just be so disrespectful like that? I tried to make last week about her, maybe I was going to throw in the rematch, I really didn't know myself. But first and foremost, it was about giving her the congratulations she deserved. But after all that crap she said, after insinuating that I needed to stoop to her level and lie to her...I decided there was something else she deserved, and that's to truly be all alone like she wants to be. So tonight, I'll make that wish come true, and take the only thing she has left by her side, The Divas Championship.


[Byron Saxton]
It was very commendable to go out and wish congratulations like that, I thought it was highly admirable.


Well apparently it was just a lie, and I didn't really mean it. Or at least that's what Paige would like to think. It's crazy to think a year ago today we were beginning a union that would be pretty unstoppable...and now here we are, why do friendships have to end over things like this? As long as I've been apart of this business, you'd think I'd be used to it by now, but I really did think we'd be different. That we'd set an example for friendships that follow, but alas...she just wasn't as dedicated to that cause as I was.

[Byron Saxton]
Now your game plan tonight is pretty cut and dry, you've got her in a bit of shock by your quick draw rematch, so how do you capitalize on that?




That's for me to know...and Paige to find out.

Staring directly into the camera, no doubt into Paige's eyes as she surely is watching at this very moment, Layla flashes a grin before winking at Byron and heading off to get ready for her rematch. Byron seems quite amused by Layla's ending remark, prompting him to respond to the cameras.

[Byron Saxton]
There you have it folks, Layla is determined to become Divas Champion again tonight, will her strategy pay off, will she avenge her loss from Final Stand? Find out later on in the evening when it's Brit versus Brit, one more time, for The Divas Championship.

*A cameraman enters the locker room of XWL wrestler Paul London and the first thing the camera picks up is a table with some action figures on it*



*The camera stays on London, he doesn't realize anyone else is there for about 30 seconds until London hears the cameraman clear his throat*



Paul London: OH! I didn't even see you were there! What can I do for you man?

Cameraman: You were late for your segment so they told me to come check on you.

Paul London: I'm so sorry man! I completely forgot! I was too into playing with these BRAND NEW XWL ACTION FIGURES!



Paul London: But anywho! Listen up Jerry Lawler, about last week, its not my fault that the security guard's golf cart's brakes malfunctioned and I almost ran down Josh Mathews, so there is no need to resort to petty, childish name calling! I'm no hooligan! Although, you wanna know something you can blame me for?

*London takes one figure and puts him on top of another*



Paul London: One! Two! Three! DING DING DING!!! Here is your winner, defeating Mr. Kennedy by pinfall, PAUUUUUL LOOOOOONDON!!!!!

*He drops the figures and then walks out of the shot*

Standing outside of the locker room as we return from a commercial break is none other than Tony Dawson.



[Tony Dawson]
Ladies and gentlemen, in The Main-Event, on the grandest stage, at sixth anniversary spectacular that was Final Stand. A man sought out to "lead the orchestra" as he put it, but unfortunately he fell to the still World Heavyweight Champion Dean Ambrose. I wasn't able to catch up with him last week, but I've gotten a tip that he's inside that locker room. I've been waiting for about ten minutes now, but I've got a good feeling about the next person to step outside of that room.

Enthusiastic about getting an exclusive from Ted, given the fact that he's not spoken since his defeat, Tony turns towards the door, ready to greet Ted. Whether or not this is a good idea remains to be seen, but given Ted's loss last week to Sheamus, things certainly aren't going all that well for him lately, which could put him a bad mood. Tony turns back to the camera after a few seconds smiling and motioning to the doorway.

[Tony Dawson]
Get ready, I think I hear something!


But as he leaned in, ever so excited, nothing happens.

[Tony Dawson]
He's probably just lacing his boots for his match with Triple H later on, I understand he wears size thirteens, that's a lot of laces!

Trying to keep the mood, Tony remains hopeful that Ted will step out of the locker room any second now. But as the seconds pass, as any second becomes thirty, that hope begins to dwindle.

[Tony Dawson]
I'm sorry guys, I was sure of it that he was in there. But, maybe he's just icing some wounds or taping his wrists, I'm sure he'll come out eventually. But for now I'm going to take it back to you at ringside, stay tuned for my interview with Ted...providing I find him.


With this interview failing to come to be, we head to an expanded view of our commentary team, JR, King, and Cole.




[Michael Cole]
It's quite odd that Ted hasn't addressed what happened at Final Stand. I mean we saw him last week, he came out here, did his thing in the ring, came up short...again...but we didn't actually hear from him.

[JR]
A man like Ted practically threw it all away to be champion, and then he didn't win. Perhaps maybe he's regretting all of that, and knows that no matter what he says, there's no going back.

[King]
Either that or he's just trying to make this whole thing blow over so he can go back to claiming he's the greatest all on his own, as the sole member and leader of his own Posse.

[Michael Cole]
I guess we'll see if Tony manages to get a word with him later on, if not...let's hope for his sake that this losing streak doesn't continue. But considering he's up against the very game Triple H...I'd say his chances already aren't that good.

-Alex Shelley-
So… last week was pretty fun, huh? Last week you all made your voices heard by making sure that the two out of three falls match up won the XWL Active vote by a landslide and I know you all did it because you missed me at Final Stand and wanted me to make up for it and, not to toot my own horn or anything, but I’d like to think I didn’t disappoint my fans with my performance. Anto…  sorry, Cesaro is as tough as nails because you know what they say: you are what you eat and Cesaro is the kind of guy who eats a bowl full of that stuff… without milk. Yet, I took every painful uppercut, every bone-breaking slam, every whiff of that breath, and I found a way to overcome.

I came back from down 1-0 to snatch victory out of those grubby European paws, but I hope you didn’t call it comeback, because it was all part of my master plan. I wanted the situation to look dire, I wanted it to seem like Cesaro all but had that much won, I wanted him to build up a fall sense of security so that when I finally made my move and showed him why they call me The Technical Messiah, his fall from grace would be that much more glorious. I’ve played enough videogames to have a strategy in place for every situation. Hell, I’ve had so many gaming marathons that my cardio is in peak condition and I could have wrestled an ironman match much less two out of three falls. But then again, those kinds of matches appear to be diva’s exclusive, so I’ll stick to where I’m wanted.

And it looks to me that where I’m wanted is in the spotlight right in the thick of the drama and the heat of the action because no matter what else this company has going for it; the people are buying tickets and tuning in to Breakdown so that they can see what comes next on the “Alex Shelley Welcome Back from Japan, Blast from the Past” Tour. Don’t worry folks, the trademark for that name has already been filed, and sooner rather than later you can get that on a pretty badass shirt. Each and every week since I made my glorious return from my trip abroad, an old foe, someone I thought I’d never wrestle again, has been put across the ring from me and it’s been a fun experience to compare how much we’ve both grown every time.



-Alex Shelley-
And now this week, I’ve been matched up against a fella whose last encounter with me is one of the freshest in my mind. Tonight, for the first time in months, for the first time this year, for the first time in spring and for the first time in April, Alex Shelley and CM Punk are going to go at it in the ring and they might as well have put this match on last because everything else that follows will pale in comparison. Though I guess, The Shield’s emotional reunion will be a sight to see as well. Let me tell you folks, I’ve already got the popcorn and the tissues on hand, and I don’t know how that match is going to play out but I’m ready for anything. I feel that same way about our match, Punk: anything can happen and I’ve done my best to prepare for it. See while you were taking the night off last week to soak your feet and to relax after a job well done at Final Stand, I basically wrestled three matches in one night, but don’t worry, I still have plenty in the tank left to deal with The Best in the World.

The last time we fought, you were the former World Champ and I was merely the former United States Champion, I was the one being forced to fight like I had something to prove, like I was the underdog, like I was the one whose skills paled in comparison to yours and through the outcome of that match, if nothing else, I proved that we’re at least equals. But you didn’t let that denial to wrestle for the Intercontinental Championship stop you, no, you soldiered on, you dropped a couple of pipe bombs, casually slid your way into the Money in the Bank match and proceeded to win it all and now once again your name is being brought up in the same sentence as the World Championship, while thanks to my match against Cesaro last week, Shelley and the United States Championship are once again the talk of the town.

So it seems that we’re back where we started, Punk. Back to where I’m being forced to fight like I have something to prove.  Punk, I respect you for the way you keep hanging in there when a lesser man would have long admitted he has nothing left to offer this company, but if I proved that we’re equals in the last match, no amount of respect I have for you is going to stop me from giving it all I have in the ring so that this time I can show that I’m superior, that I could easily be where you are now, in prime position to hold the top prize in this company, and nobody would be able to bat an eye or question if I deserve to be where I am. In this business I’m well aware that it’s not about what you deserve, it’s about what you’ve earned and I think after lighting the world on fire with my performances for months that I’ve earned a little more than what I’ve been offered.

Punk, tonight I’m going to go out there and make you break a sweat in that ring so that even in the off-chance you manage to emerge victorious - when your arm is too battered to be raised in the air, when your legs are too worn down to walk without a limp, when your throat is so sore, after sliced bread has been shoved down it, that you can’t drop a pipe bomb and shake the foundation of this company down to its very core - there’s no doubt in my mind that you will feel that you earned that win. So how about we go out there and tear the roof off the place, Punk? I’m sure you’ll throw everything you have at me, but don’t be too surprised when that’s not enough to get you the outcome you’re hoping for.
