1. An Old Challenger for the Iron Man, and the New Face of Anarchy
It has been quite the week for Intercontinental Champion, Matt Sydal. He regained his title at Downpour in a match against the thorn in his side, Buddy Murphy, which then went on to earn him not only match, but also feud of the whole pay-per-view in the process (shocking) ! The Iron Man’s train wasn’t derailed there, however, as he would debunk the possibility of a fluke win by defeating Murphy yet again last week on Anarchy in an Intercontinental Championship rematch. His derailment did come into play after the match though, when one half of the longest reigning Tag Team Champions, Chris Sabin, made it known that his business with the Intercontinental Champion still remains unfinished. With both men seeming to have each other’s titles in their respective gazes, how will this stunning development in the men’s division continue to unfold this week on Anarchy? While on the topic of Anarchy, last week it gained a new face in the structure of Kyle O’Reilly. After a controversial finish to their Steel Cage match at Downpour, O’Reilly successfully obtained his first World Television Championship over Dolph Ziggler in a Steel Cage rematch last week on Anarchy. With Ziggler out of the picture, who will step up as O’Reilly’s first contender?

2. The American Dragon, the Swiss Cyborg, and the Bliss Stick
After coming out victorious in a Number One Contender’s match for the World Heavyweight Championship, the American Dragon, Daniel Bryan, was given a rude awakening in the form of a European Uppercut by Cesaro. The Swiss Cyborg wasn’t done executing his savage will there, as he would proceed to beat down on Bryan, finishing off with one final Uppercut of all Uppercuts until the new Number One Contender was nothing more than a carcass in the ring. With Daniel Bryan now aligned for a Championship match against Drew McIntyre, and the “King of Swing” still in the running for the title of King of the Ring, what does this involvement mean for the World Heavyweight Championship picture? Speaking of contenders, Alexa Bliss put on quite a strike in the center of the ring in order to demand some explanation from General Manager Vince McMahon, and his golden girl, Mandy Rose. After the screwjob that took place at Downpour, Bliss and Rose had a heated exchange that led Bliss to dig deep and unleash her fury on the Champion. Her weapon of choice? Her trademarked Bliss Stick of course, the same that Rose used against her during the match in question. After career suicide was proposed by Mr. McMahon himself disguised in the form of a Number One Contendership opportunity match against Awesome Kong, Bliss shocked the world when she managed to come out on “top” via disqualification.

3. Motor City Cup Progress Report
Last week marked the first round in a series of matches in the King of the Ring, Queen of the Ring, and Motor City Cup tournaments. In the tag division, the team of Roderick Strong and Dominik Dojikovic came out with a victory over Lio Rush and his surprise partner, Bobby Lashley. Also advancing is the team of Tyler Breeze and the Velveteen Dream, collectively known as “Velveteen Breeze” who secured their victory over Elias and his surprise of a partner as well, Batista. One team who is familiar with the Tag Team Championships is the combination of Sami Zayn and Jay White, known together as the Cut Throat Era. Zayn and White came out predictably victorious when they defeated one half of the Golden Lovers in Kota Ibushi during a handicap match in order to advance. Coming in hot off of a debut victory over Beer Money, the Los Conquistadores will also advance to face the Cut Throat Era this week on Anarchy, while Velveteen Breeze will take on Dojikovic and Strong in second round matches of the annual Motor City Cup.

4. Queen of the Ring Progress Report
This week also marks the second round matches for the Queen of the Ring tournament. Last week, the “Boss” bracket saw the Boss herself, Sasha Banks, come out with a victory over the Fearless One, Nikki Bella. While Sasha advances this week, two superstars who somehow found themselves both on the losing end of their match, Sonya Deville and Peyton Royce, will not be advancing to the semi-finals due to a double count out. On the “Brat” bracket, we saw Ronda Rousey reaffirm her dominance as she put away Ember Moon with relative ease, and will advance this week to face the Problem Child, Liv Morgan, who advanced off of a win over the veteran Mickie James to secure her spot in the semi-finals this week. The last time Liv Morgan and Ronda Rousey shared the ring was at Roulette last year, where the team of the Boss ‘n’ Brat sent Ronda flying off the stage. Ronda may be back with an unholy vengeance, but she’ll have to keep eyes in the back of her head if she wants to step over Morgan as easily as she did Ember Moon last week. As history has consistently shown us, Liv always has something up those mesh sleeves of hers, but will it be enough to counter the brute strength and technical prowess of the Rowdy one?

5. King of the Ring Progress Report
As prior mentioned, the King of the Ring tournament is also entering its second round this week on Anarchy. First round winners include Cesaro, who advanced after managing to put away the revived Lunatic Fringe, Dean Ambrose. The heat really turned up after the match had concluded, when Ambrose antagonized the victorious Cesaro, which led right into another physical display of dominance from the Swiss Cyborg, who went as far as using Daniel Bryan’s own finishing submission on Ambrose out of spite. Following that, the Phenomenal AJ Styles defeated Killer Kross in order to also advance to the second round. In the same respect, after a battle of two living legends, that being the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin, Michaels was able to solidify his spot in the second round after picking up a win over Austin. Later on that night in an unexpected turn of events for the tournament, Brian Pillman Jr., who lost out on his Number One Contendership opportunity against Daniel Bryan in the opening moments of the night, somehow found his second wind and bounced back when he defeated Bray Wyatt in round 1 of the King of the Ring tournament, and will thereby also be advancing to the second round this week.

XWL Anarchy: 6/17/2019 - 6/24/2019 - Page 2 5f567810

Peyton enters first. Nia enters shortly after but is immediately attacked from behind by Sonya Deville. Sonya shows the big bully a little bit of her own medicine, using her MMA skills to take down the giant. Once Nia is down for good Sonya looks at the ring and shouts “I’m not finished with you Royce! Not after last week!!” She then makes her way to the ring. The announce team then informs us that Sonya will be facing Royce instead of Nia.

Sonya and Royce stare each other down as the bell rings. The tension begins to grow as they can be seen exchanging heated words. All of a sudden Peyton slaps Sonya right across the face!! The crowd let’s out a “ohh” as Sonya holds her face in pain. She looks at her hand to make sure she isn’t bleeding before looking back up towards Royce with a glare. Peyton, who was laughing, quickly shows a worried expression before quickly running out of the ring!! Sonya chases her but Royce begins to run around the ring to avoid the ex MMA stars retaliation.

Peyton realizes that her cardio can’t compare to Sonya’s and quickly enters back into the ring exhausted from running. Sonya slides into the ring after her only to become victim of an assault of kicks as soon as she enters. Royce laughs as she kicks the downed Sonya over and over.

Peyton maintains control of the match for a little while, using whatever underhanded tactics she can use without the ref noticing. Finally Sonya gets an opening and begins to fight back. Her MMA background helps her maintain control with multiple holds and takedowns.

Peyton eventually is able to fight back. The match goes back and forth from then on out for a while before Peyton is able to steal the victory with a roll up, using the ropes to pin Sonya.

The bell rings and Royce celebrates with no modesty at all. Sonya gets to her feet angrily and begins to argue with the ref. Royce laughs in Sonya’s face before quickly exiting the ring and making her way to the back, laughing and congratulating herself the whole way.

A face wearing a nice, expensive scarf appears on the titantron.

{Chris Jericho}
Shawn Michaels you decided to put my name in your mouth again tonight, and it ultimately cost you the chance at becoming King of the Ring. A chance that I was never given. An opportunity that throughout my career I have earned. The King of the Ring crown is the one thing that has escaped my legacy in my 9+ year career. And they gave my spot to you? A man that couldn’t even defeat a debuting Velveteen Dream on the biggest stage of them all? Shawn Michaels, at Coronation, I will be meeting you in the center of the ring, 1 on 1, to prove to Vince McMahon that he made the wrong choice by selecting you over me.

Jericho drops out of view of the camera as Anarchy cuts to a commercial.

[Mauro Ranallo]
Alexa Bliss showing off a little bit with that diving Insult To Injury to The Women's Champion.

[Renee Young]
She looks like she's about to try and wrap this up...could you imagine if Alexa could defeat Tessa Blanchard tonight in such a quick time?

Alexa's hand lowers to her knee as she slightly bends, stalking The Diamond of The Women's Division perhaps for The Curb Stomp...but as Tessa starts to rise up...and Little Miss Bliss takes aim...suddenly despite not wanting to start this match off and tagging Alexa into the match at the start of this match...Mandy suddenly develops a desire to get into this match and props up onto the second rope as she stretches forward and roughly slaps Alexa's back, tagging herself in. Alexa turns with a classic "WTF" look on her face as The North American Champion steps through the ropes and orders Alexa to get out of the ring and watch how a Champion does things. Alexa annoyed by Mandy forcing her way into this match when she was clearly handling things fine on her own...looks at Mandy for a tense moment, then steps out of the ring as Tessa thanks to this exchange has gotten back to her feet.

[Corey Graves]
Alright Mandy, show these Women how it's done.

[Renee Young]
These two are already an odd pairing given their very personal and heated rivalry...and Mandy trying to run things certainly isn't going to make this match go any smoother.

[Mauro Ranallo]
That suplex took a lot out of The North American Champion...I can't believe it but it looks like she's looking for a tag, finally finding use for Alexa as her partner I guess.

[Renee Young]
She finds out she can't do it all on her own and suddenly she's crawling on the mat to try and avoid more of a beating from The Women's Champion and The Number One Contender.

[Corey Graves]
Alexa's role is a simple one, one she can't screw up...she is the buffer. When Mandy needs a water break, or a light nap? She is to get into the ring and try to avoid losing like she always does until Mandy is ready to come back in and win, like she has done ever since becoming North American Champion.

Despite her issues with Mandy, Alexa stretches her arm out towards The North American Champion trying to get the tag as Mandy clearly needs to get out after taking quite the beating from Kairi Sane and now Tessa Blanchard. Mandy slowly crawls, as if not competing except for one match in the last 2 months has diminished her ring cardio and she is utterly exhausted. She's hurting, she's spent, and she is having a time trying to crawl to the corner to make the tag. As her perfectly manicured nails try to dig deep into the canvas, she slowly, and we mean slowly crawls to Alexa who at this point is trying to reach out as far as she legally can without drawing the ire of the official who can be a real stickler in situations like this if your hand isn't on that little white rope and you're too far into the ring. Mandy looks up at Alexa, they're not friends, they're not allies, and she probably in this moment regrets voluntarily placing herself in this match as Alexa's partner because she could have spent her night doing perfectly appropriate and professional things. But instead, she's struggling to move just a little closer so that her hand can make contact with Alexa's and she can get a much needed breather. There's probably a crew member backstage waiting with an Evian water and a emperor style fan for the moment Mandy is no longer the legal competitor in this match. With just a couple inches separating the two partners and their hands...Mandy takes a deep breath then finds a second wind Mandy takes a deep breath then finds a second wind and leaps up off of the mat" using that second wind to soar through the air in an attempt to tag out of this bad decision she's made. Her hand in a perfect slow motion captured moment nearly comes into contact with Alexa's palm...but instead of at last making the tag...her hand as well as every part of her crashes and burns to the mat as Alexa's hand pulled away at the last second, and she hopped off the apron!

[Corey Graves]
WHAT THE HELL?! Get back up on the apron and tag in! How do you screw up accepting a tag? Like I knew Alexa wasn't great in a lot of areas, but it takes a special kind of person to screw up keeping their hand in place as someone springs off the mat to tag you in.

[Renee Young]
Corey, do you really not realize what just happened?

[Corey Graves]
Alexa Bliss just slipped off the apron, I know! Like come on, she was standing in one place, and THIS Woman is supposed to get a rematch with The Golden Goddess?

[Mauro Ranallo]
Corey, she didn't slip...

The camera zooms in on Mandy's head it rises up from face planting the mat. Her jaw is hung wide open as her eyes begin to widen as well. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" She screams at Alexa, who raises up her index finger and exclaims "Sorry, I need a break...this is really exhausting work. But I'll be back in a minute! You're doing amazing sweetie!" With that, Alexa spins on her heel and begins to walk up the ramp as Mandy slowly rises up becoming more furious as each passing second, she watches her partner in this match...a match SHE voluntarily agreed to be Alexa's partner in...head up the ramp without even looking back. Kairi and Tessa look at one another with a shrug, quite amused by Mandy being left by her partner...especially given this match is to determine who chooses their type of match they'll compete in at Coronation for The Women's Championship. But I suppose we shouldn't get too ahead of ourselves...I mean Alexa did say she'd be back in a minute...maybe she will?

[Corey Graves]
Add this to the long list of reasons why Alexa Bliss is unworthy of even being in the same conversation as the inspirational Mandy Rose...did she seriously just leave the woman who GRACIOUSLY stepped in so that this wouldn't be a Handicap match?

[Renee Young]
Let's not act like Mandy didn't probably plan to do the same thing to Alexa.

[Mauro Ranallo]
Perhaps you're right...but now it looks like Mandy will have to go it alone against two of the top Women in this division today. At least until Alexa gets back from her break.

[Renee Young]
IF she comes back...

[Corey Graves]
This is a travesty, Mandy Rose is outnumbered...THIS IS JUST UNFAIR! Try as she does, even a celestial being cannot overcome a two on one situation...someone has to do something.

[Renee Young]
It looks like Kairi is signaling for the end.

[Mauro Ranallo]
I'll give Mandy credit, she's had to dig deep in this match and she has. She's knocked the illegal opponent off the apron at every possible point to ensure that if she can't tag out neither can they. But after her impressive performance, it looks like she's run out of gas and she's potentially about to be pinned for the first time since becoming North American Champion.

The Pirate Princess awaits The Golden Goddess to rise to her feet, when suddenly...her eyes drift to the stage as something catches her eye...it looks like someone indeed may be about to come to Mandy's aid...the camera shifts to the stage to show us the viewer what suddenly has captured the eye of Kairi Sane. It's....ALEXA BLISS?! Surprisingly, Alexa was being truthful..she intended on coming back out, albeit she's 14 minutes over her previously agreed  "1 minute" but she is at last back out. However, there isn't a pep in her step as she emerges from the back after her much needed break. No, she doesn't rush down the ramp to try and make the tag...I mean perhaps she would, but that'd be rather dangerous considering she's got a cup of coffee in her hand.

[Corey Graves]
ITS ABOUT TIME! PICK UP THE PACE, THE GODDESS NEEDS YOU! WAIT! DID SHE REALLY BRING A CUP OF COFFEE OUT HERE?

[Mauro Ranallo]
She did say she was exhausted, and coffee has a way of remedying that.

Mandy while lying on the mat barely is able to lift her head to see that her partner has returned...but as her eyes perk up perhaps seeing salvation within reach...Alexa holds her index finger up to motion that she'll be just a second longer as she lifts the cup up to her mouth and takes a nice long sip. Once she lowers it she lets out the classic "ah" and then proceeds down the ramp. Kairi seeing her best friend's antics can't help but crack a smile as she still focuses in on Mandy for the moment she finally rises to her feet.

XWL Anarchy: 6/17/2019 - 6/24/2019 - Page 2 TrcGrtW

As Alexa reaches the bottom of the ramp, she looks to the action in the ring, seemingly disappointed that she was only gone for "1 minute" and Mandy's gone and messed everything up. This stress inducing moment prompts her to have to take another sip of her coffee, trying to return to this match with a sound mind and body given she's going to have to carry this team due to Mandy not carrying her side of things.

[Corey Graves]
PUT THAT CUP DOWN AND GET ON THE APRON!

[Renee Young]
She will in a minute, Corey. We all know how important it is to have a cup of coffee.

[Corey Graves]
It's like 11pm at night, WHO HAS COFFEE THIS LATE? BESIDES THIS IS LIKE HER SECOND CUP OF THE NIGHT, SURELY IT CAN WAIT?

[Mauro Ranallo]
It doesn't seem like she feels that way.

As the commentators discuss the cup of joe that's in Alexa's hand at ringside, we re-focus our attention to the action going on in the ring, Kairi appears to be setting up for the Cutlass as she stalks Mandy from behind as the North American Champion struggles to make it to a vertical base, it appears as though any second now Kairi will hook Mandy's arm and attempt the Cutlass maneuver that won her her first Women's Championship at International Incident a couple months back, just as Kairi's homing in on Mandy, she feels a pat across her shoulder from her tag team partner, the Women's Champion Tessa Blanchard, almost instantly, the referee makes the official indication that a tag has been made.

[Corey Graves]
Tessa's clearly trying to steal Kairi's thunder here, this is brilliant.

[Mauro Ranallo]
Kairi seemed to have the situation well and truly under control right there, that tag is certainly perplexing to say the least.

[Renee Young]
This is a risky gamble right here, it could easily backfire if they're not careful.

Tessa enters the ring and goes face to face with a highly confused Kairi Sane, she felt as though she was moments away from having this match won for her team as did just about everyone else watching, but for some reason Tessa has decided to insert herself into this equation, frustration engulfs the Pirate Princess as she exchanges words with the Undeniable Diamond, after a few seconds have elapsed Kairi proceeds with exiting the ring, but she's certainly made her displeasure known as she continues to debate the questionable tag with Tessa from the apron. Tessa turns her back to Mandy and continues to make her case to Kairi face to face as to why she chose that moment to tag into this match, neither side if budging on their steadfast opinions and it LOOKS AS THOUGH IT MAY COST THEM THE MATCH AS MANDY ROSE HAS JUST SHOVED TESSA INTO KAIRI SENDING HER FLYING OFF THE APRON AND HAS PROCEEDED TO ROLL THE CHAMPION UP WITH A SCHOOLBOY ROLL UP!!!!!

[Renee Young]
Was that three???

[Mauro Ranallo]
It was about as close as you can get to being three without actually being three, the ref is signalling to the timekeeper that it was only a two count.

[Corey Graves]
Highway robbery if I've ever seen it, that was a clear cut three count and the whole world knows it, the Golden Goddess should be celebrating a pinfall victory over the Women's Champion right now, instead she has to continue on against these ridiculous odds, this is a black eye on this company for god sakes!!!

As Corey continues to lose his mind as he comes to the defense of Mandy Rose, we transition our focus back on the ring as Tessa Blanchard has just somehow powered out of that roll up from Mandy Rose at the last possible millisecond. Tessa shifts her body away from Mandy and spins away to create some separation, Mandy Rose charges at Tessa looking for her signature Knee Strike but Tessa does an underneath forward roll that sends her into her teams corner, an angry Kairi has just made it back up to the apron almost simultaneously and has made an emphatic tag by slapping Tessa on the shoulder, Mandy did not notice the tag had taken place as she still was facing the other direction from the knee strike attempt, once again Mandy charges towards Tessa's position, this time in the corner, the attempt backfires when Tessa leaps out of the corner and catches the charging Mandy with a Diamond Cutter that sends her crashing down face first down onto the mat, the impact was so strong that she basically flipped on impact, the cutter drives you face down onto the mat, she landed face down but then lifted off the mat slightly from the impact and ended up on her back as a result.

Kairi Sane was now the legal woman and she's wasted no time in climbing to the top rope, she readies her trusty elbow for flight before soaring into the skies and coming crashing down with the InSane Elbow right into the chest of the North American Champion Mandy Rose.

Mandy Rose has just been destroyed, but before a pin starts...the camera shifts to Alexa Bliss who casually has her arm resting on the edge of the apron as the other arm supports her coffee.

"Come on, Mandy! You're making me look bad! I just need to finish my cup of coffee, don't go losing this match...we all know how embarrassing that would be, and we don't want that, do we?" Alexa vocally berates her likely unconscious partner as a pin begins...and Alexa still continues to shout words of "motivation" to The North American Champion. "You're undefeated, you can do this! All you have to do is kickout, you have one job, Mandy...I just need like 3.84 more seconds and I'll be good to go!"

[Corey Graves]
GET IN THERE AND BREAK THE PIN!

[Renee Young]
She will, in 3.84 seconds when she finishes her coffee.

Kairi hooks both legs on the pinfall attempt.

[Corey Graves]
A dark day in XWL history...

[Renee Young]
Oh grow up Corey...

[Mauro Ranallo]
And just like that, Tessa and Kairi have won the right to choose the stipulation for what many anticipate to be the final showdown between the two, for awhile at least, when they clash for the Women's Championship at Coronation. One has to wonder what these two will end up going with for what's sure to be an epic showdown.

Kairi raises to her feet following the pinfall and the ref immediately approaches her side as though he's ready to raise her hand in victory, but as this was a tag team match, he needs Kairi's partner to flank him on the opposite side so that he may raise both of their hands in victory simultaneously. Tessa is handed her title belt from a ringside assistant and proceeds to the center of the ring where the ref and Kairi are waiting, she takes position besides the ref and he proceeds with raising both of their hands in victory as the crowd cheers on, Tessa uses her left hand to raise her title belt above her head in celebration at the same time. The ref makes his way out of the ring leaving only the fallen Mandy Rose to lick her wounds on the mat whilst Kairi and Tessa share a stare down in the middle of the ring, Tessa can be caught uttering "My bad" to Kairi's face before Kairi uses her famous hand that delivers the InSane Elbow to quote un-quote wipe the slate clean with a side to side hand motion that signifies the ending of this match being water under the bridge for these two already, they then proceed to share a quick fist bump and hug in the ring before making the rounds to the four corners of the ring to ascend to the top and celebrate with the XWL universe to wrap up this edition of Anarchy, the last glance we see before the show goes dark?

Alexa Bliss positioned against the apron with her coffee safe and secure in her grasp as she stares into the soul of the beaten and battered Mandy Rose. "You had ONE job, Mandy. Alexa exclaims, as she takes a sip of her coffee, and tonight's episode of Anarchy officially comes to an end.
