A word that has one key expression, the overall enjoyment one has. But as with many things, the makings of that "fun" come in many different forms. The idea behind XWL, is to provide an environment for people all over the world, to come together over one common theme, the desire to have "fun." The word however, is subjective, for some...a good match is the "fun" they desire. For others, a good feud is their "fun." However with so many different personalities all melting in the same pot, we realize others may have other views of "fun." So if you want XWL to stick around, and prosper..as opposed to die a slow agonizing death...we need as many members as possible to respond to this thread, and answer the simple question, what is fun to you?
What will bring you enjoyment, enjoyment enough to care about doing your matches? To take part in feuds, what do you need from XWL, to participate in it?
We're open to ideas, we're interested in discussing things with you, but we need communication. Clearly you're still around for a reason, even if you may not be contributing, so you do want to remain here...you just need something to pull you back in, so what will do that?
What is your definition, of F_U_N?

| Fun for me is equal opportunity, to have variety spread throughout. Put on more of a show and not only see a victory through your eyes before the bell rings. You toppled on a lot of great points beforehand in the other thread. I'm not going to deliver an award winning speech, you asked a definition.. it's going to take a while. Once finding this site it wasn't about how I was going to stack up those imaginary invisible titles on a shelf in my house/room. It was about coming together with wrestling fans from not only my country, from around the world that appreciated it as much as I did.
We all lead lives, see..not everyone has a built in clock inside them. We're not little kids with all the time in the world after school, whether you're at a job or you're "too busy". Personally, as much as I would like to get my matches done the day of. I go out of my way to message another, it's never the other way around. It's me, I'm stuck with the slack and lack of communication. I always have to be the reminder, with not a single response back. When you join a league, it's about handling your own. Once you're unable to pull your weight, I suggest you respectfully bow out. We're left with pure laziness if you're unable to take a half hour at most out of your day to do a match. THAT I, offered to record because you're ineligible. How is this such a hard idea to cling onto? We have a match, did you even bother to check the card? Why leave me high and dry, when I'm only asking for your schedule. You're online, don't be sly.. I see you're willing to pick up a controller to tap tap tap away at your buttons. Yet when you're neglecting a hobby you signed on for, it makes me question your love for wrestling.
All in all, in a perfect world I'd want immediate replies to my messages. In a perfect world, I'd want them to attempt in messaging me first. Did I say perfect world, no.. because that can happen already. XWL is failing us? You're failing XWL and most importantly wasting the time invested into you. That's not fun, what's fun is laughing and saying good job to your opponent. Reacting to their ideas set out in segments/feuds. Make your opinion mean something and don't let your time be stamped with a null and void. I'm Ryan fucking Wolf and I love pro wrestling, and I also.. have a life.

| Fun to me? Fun is being able to put out a product that other people appreciate. To be able to create something beautiful. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a wrestler. Now that I'm an "adult" (who am I kidding with that one, right?) I feel the same way. This is my gateway to put out a product of entertainment. Whether it just be for the sake of doing it, or whether people actually like it, I love doing this. I like seeing cool storylines, with epic matches. The match I had with Gregg has been my absolute favorite to date (minus my first match as EY against David in '13 where we just dicked around for an hour, lol at that game) because it was just beating the shit out of each other. I liked the fact that win or lose, it was fun. That no matter what, the person I was fighting had the same goal as me: enjoy and entertain.
I'd love to see epic match ideas. I'd love to see new people promoing. I'd love to see decked match cards with decked results. But we can't have all of that. People need enticement because entertainment isn't the only thing that strives us. People want competition. So, let them have it. I don't mind as long as that's not the only reason we're here. I do this just to do it and would do every match if not for my schedule these past two weeks, but you guys knew that already.
I do this to keep busy, and for a hobby. But to me, it comes above a lot. I busted my ass to get my promo done the other week, to keep active and to keep having fun in this fed. I don't know if it's the fact that we are too picky, or just too lazy, but we need a surge of activity. Even if it's just a short promo like Kyle had to do, I'd love to read it. Give reviews if nothing else. I just have fun doing what we do. That's it.

| I enjoy collaborating on good storylines and feuds the most. Once you partner with someone who clicks, it's always enjoyable to put out entertaining posts with the different dynamics, whether it be a feud or a partnership. Having a quality match is always a good time, but it doesn't last the way a quality story does.
That being said, it's difficult to have one without the other. Nobody is going to want to feud with someone who plays like a savage and picks up cheap wins. Matches have never been my greatest strength here, but since the return of XWL I've put in a lot of effort to better myself in the virtual ring so I can produce more quality matches, which opens up opportunities to better storylines. I think it's fairly obvious that it has paid off.
As for the dry spell, I think it's had a domino effect. Some crucial members of XWL have had to back out recently, and that can be discouraging to other members. It takes away motivation when some of the best competition and critique has been removed, but that's when your dedication comes in. Yeah, this is an online gaming league. An online gaming league you signed up for.
Everybody gets busy, I've been busy for the past month, but I try to get as much done as I possibly can because this is what I signed up for. Sometimes XWL requires more than just your free time if you want to be successful here. That's too much to ask of some people, and understandably so. I've found myself going way out of my way recently in order to put out a good promo, because sometimes that's what it takes. If you want to make it to the top and get more opportunities, put in the effort, it doesn't go unnoticed.
I think we're too closely associating fun with laziness and lack of guidelines. XWL holds a prestige to me, because we have rules and regulations that keep us on the standard we've set ourselves to for years. We've hit dry spells before, and although it is pretty discouraging, keep putting in the effort, it'll pay off and business will pick up again in the summer.

| This is gonna be based on back when I was active because I can't comment on recent times. I found matches to be a bit tedious at times and just plain hated facing people that I knew were going to be activley trying to win because it kinda ruined the fun aspect of the matches for me. promos were definitely the thing that I enjoyed doing the most but again found myself finding them tedious after each time someone dropped off site mid feud because I was just left with nothing to do with that character until like a month or two down the line which sucks when having an admin approved superstar cause I ended up having to write nonsense just to keep them. (just to be clear I'm still in favour of the admin approved promo rules) Can't really pin down why I had so much fun here tbh I could launch into a whole thing about how you guys gave me a significant boost in my confidence and say that made it fun but in all honesty everyone was just really welcoming especially when you consider that I used to just appear in the chat say hi and then leave like 45 mins later without saying anything else. So yeah this place is awesome and I'll probably rejoin at the end of april/start of may depending on who is available, if I can get my hands on the game for xb1 and commitments to work and college. | |

See, this is one thing I've always wanted to try to not make a thing. Because there's so many that do want just a fun match, not just a win, but the ones out for wins only spoils it for people like you, me, etc. So yeah this place is awesome and I'll probably rejoin at the end of april/start of may depending on who is available, if I can get my hands on the game for xb1 and commitments to work and college. We look forward to it <3
C'mon gang we can't let the league die now, Sdogg needs a place to return to, so come on let's get some more replies and figure out what makes everyone's "fun clock" tick.

| Yeah it sucks when you're stuck playing against people like that. My fav match that I had was against Jerry in Brock/Crimson with the greatest Crimson CAW ever and just having a laugh for about 20 mins | |

| I think some people are a little over dramatic and take the league a little too seriously at times which definitely hurts the fun element of it. I kind of lost most of my motivation because of that drama, and it really doesn't seem like that drama is going anywhere soon.
The community was a big part of why I loved XWL. I even bought my Xbox just because I missed it. But now it's basically nonexistent. I loved playing matches too but I haven't had an XWL match at all this year. It's my fault as well since I haven't exactly attempted to message my opponents but I haven't received any either.
But yeah people taking things too seriously is what makes it not fun. Matches and the members made it fun.
But really. Lets just blame Smite (f)
