XWL Breakdown: 7/4/2014 - 7/11/2014

A voice sings out the notes as an image slowly fades into view through the blackness. It’s an abrupt beginning, one that the fine folks in XWL can do without. Being greeted with the voice of Jillian Hall like that is akin to being woken up in the morning with a sharp slap to the face. You’re confused, helpless in that moment and even in a little pain. You don’t know what you did to deserve that and as you’re still encumbered by the still lingering effects of sleep, you’re unable to retaliate.

Historians have noted that Jillian’s voice imbues those same feelings within anyone unfortunate enough to be in earshot. The people listening don’t know what they did to deserve a prima donna shoving herself down their throats when she doesn’t have the talent to explain why she acts as though she truly is the greatest thing since sliced bread and to make her presence at least a little tolerable. Also, the data is still being compiled as we speak, but there is a belief that Jillian’s singing has hospitalized many victims. Lawsuits are on the way.

The picture comes into view revealing Jillian sitting in front of a rather large mirror admiring her reflection. At the moment she’s an unfinished project as a beauty stylist goes to town, doing everything she can to make Jillian look decent. Eyeing the rollers in her hair, Jillian smiles before reaching a hand out in front of her to grab the glass of water resting on the vanity table in front of her.

Velma, you are doing a spectacular job! I mean, sure, it doesn’t take much to make me look drop-dead gorgeous…come on, it almost isn’t fair that I was born with such a huge advantage in the looks department, but that doesn’t mean you’re not doing your job perfectly!

This Velma woman rolls her eyes at the backhanded compliment, though if nothing else Jillian appeared to be somewhat genuine about the comment. Jillian either didn’t catch Velma’s annoyed response – too captivated to notice anything outside of her face in the mirror’s reflection – or the tone-deaf songstress simply didn’t care. After all, larger-than-life superstars don’t waste time worrying about the opinions of the “little people.” While Jillian continues chatting away, the stylist continues about her work.

-Jillian Hall-
You know, to be honest with you I was afraid you’d do something to take away from my natural beauty, but then again, look around at all the “butterface’s” walking around here thinking they’re all that. I hate to be the one to say this, but in reality they’re really not all that special – you have had plenty, and I sure do mean plenty, of time to perfect your craft and now look, you’ve paid your dues and have been given the honor to work on a diva who won’t make your feet hurt after standing for hours or your arms sore after caking on pounds of make-up. You know something? I may have added years to your life by getting rid of so much stress, and for that you are most definitely welcome.

Thing is, the stylist didn’t thank Jillian for anything, and chances are she would have gone the rest of her life without doing so. Actually, Jillian shutting up until her hair is finished would get a thank you, a box of chocolates and a donation to the charity of her choice, because often times when Jillian opens her mouth it’s to say, or sing, something nobody wants to hear. She’s at her worst when she has a captive audience, unable to save themselves, and this poor hair-dresser can’t exactly walk away without finishing, at least not if she wants a paycheck, though at this rate she may be asking for a bonus in her salary before her next check is put in the mail.

Just think about it for a second, right now you could be somewhere else trying to make it so I don’t want to throw up a little in my mouth when I see Bayley later on. Like, how could you even do anything when she’s trying to hug you? Ugh, she’s just so… Oh. My. Gosh. That just gave me the perfect idea for a tweet. You’re going to laugh your butt off when you see it Daphnie, I promise you.

Jillian sets down the glass of water that she didn’t even bother drinking from so that she can have both hands free to operate the phone. Meanwhile, the woman who has been renamed puts forth a valiant effort to ignore the annoyance in the chair. The blonde bombshell types away furiously, giggling with every tap of the screen as she puts together what could possibly be the tweet of a lifetime. Jillian flips her phone around and motions for the cameraman to zoom in with repeated curls of her index finger.



-Jillian Hall-
Isn’t that just perfect? Wait, do you think that was too mean? I’d hate for her to miss our match ‘cause she locked herself in her locker room crying all night. Oh well! If you ask me, she deserves it. Does she not know what personal space is? Why are we even talking about her? Now that I’m here the spotlight is all on me and I’d appreciate it if you speed things up, Mandy, so I can have a little more time to bask in it. Chop-chop, darling!

The stylist gets back to work like a sport player coming off the bench after a timeout ready to get the job done so that she can go home and perhaps begin considering a new line of work. While the stylist begins taking the rollers out of the long blonde hair of her clientele, Jillian softly runs her fingers up and down the length of her neck.

-Jillian Hall-
Excuse me, that conversation left me a little parched …

Jillian picks up the glass of water again and this time she takes a sip right away, pausing a second to swish the water around in her mouth allowing her to savor the flavor…but then the pause extends for another moment – something doesn’t seem right. Jillian’s eyes open wide in shock then the expression segues into fright just before she spits out the beverage, coating the mirror in front of her with a layer of saliva and the contents of her glass. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! The following shrill scream nearly shatters the glass as whatever has Jillian upset must be something major. With her hands trembling in a disturbing manner, as something overtakes her body, Jillian places the glass on the table, grabs a handful of the stylist’s shirt and uses the fabric to scour her tongue of the flavor that has left her rattled. Jillian takes a few deep breaths, counting up to ten between each one, then when she appears to have her emotions in check, she proceeds to speak in an even tone laced with frustration.

-Jillian Hall-
I. Asked. For. Water. With. A. Hint. Of. Lemon. A HINT!!! Do you not know how much a hint is? Is that not something they teach you in beauty school? Well I guess it’s on me to educate you. A hint means that I want you to gently squeeze a few drops into my water, not dump the whole thing in there! Do you know what too much citrus does to your vocal cords? These things are my lifeblood! Without them I have no career! They’re like… they’re like the most important thing in the company! If they get messed up then that means these people bought their tickets for nothing! Could you live with yourself knowing that you single-handily ruined the career of the single most talented woman this company has ever seen? COULD YOU? I…

Jillian is cut off by the stylist who tries to calm down the manic woman by saying “Sorry for the mistake, Ms. Hall.” But that attempt to smooth things over only serves to further enrage Jillian who begins shrieking in such a way that her words are almost inaudible.

-Jillian Hall-
You did this on purpose, didn’t you? I bet it was the jealousy of knowing that the closest you’ll get to superstardom is through me! Well you know what? I take back what I said earlier! You’re terrible at your job and I’ll see to it that you get fired even if it’s the last thing that I do! Oh, and by the way, honey. It’s not “Ms. Hall” it’s Jillian, okay? One word. Like Madonna. Except it’s an insult for my name to even be mentioned in the same sentence as hers. I am a PopStar, no, the PopStar, okay? And after the stunt you pulled, I’m afraid that you’re no longer worthy to be in my presence.

Jillian begins frantically pulling the rest of the rollers out of her hair while rising from out of the couch, her actions fueled by her irrational rage. Jillian stomps her foot on the ground and points off screen instructing the stylist to get out of her sight. Completely fed up with Jillian’s antics at this point, the stylist crosses her arms and rests them on her amble bosom, effectively making her stand.

-Jillian Hall-
Better yet, I’ll go because it smells like failure back here anyway.

In a huff, Jillian turns on her heels and stomps away. The stylists shakes her head, mentally exhausted from the ordeal by happy it’s all over. She begins picking the rollers Jillian dropped off the ground and nearly misses the sight of Jillian scampering back into the picture. Jillian knocks the glass of water over, and the sound of it rolling off the table and shattering on the concrete floor is what alerts the stylist to Jillian’s looming presence. By the time she looks up, Jillian races away from the scene, and hopefully we won’t be seeing her again until she makes her in-ring return later on in the night.

The man the XWL Universe loves to hate receives a booming reception from the crowd – the booing and the cheering at odds with each other as the fans have yet to come to a unanimous agreement about how they feel about the man who braved the gauntlet known as King of the Ring to earn the right to challenge Shawn Michaels for the World Heavyweight Championship at Digital Decision.

John Cena storms out onto the stage, filled to brim with energy as adrenaline courses through his veins, pumping him up for the battle to come. Tonight he has his work cut out for him as he takes on one of the disciples of Bray Wyatt, the unforgiving and unsettling Luke Harper. Cena hasn’t been known to back down from a fight, he gives it everything he’s got, fighting until the bitter end and every foe who willingly crosses paths with Cena does so knowing that they’ve got their work cut out for them as they enter the fight of a lifetime.

Jim Ross
Would you just listen to this raucous crowd?! The most polarizing man in the company has made his way out here, and no matter what you think of Cena as a person, you can’t deny that he always gets one of the loudest reactions.

Michael Cole
Well I, for one, am glad that there are still people out there you don’t buy into Cena’s good guy act and have the guts to stand up to the other brainwashed clowns and make their opinions heard.

Jerry Lawler
I assume you came to that conclusion after all the personal time you spent with Cena? I can’t imagine how you’d judge him as a person otherwise.

Jim Ross
John Cena has never allowed himself to stray – sticking to his morals and staying true to himself and some people just find it hard to believe that he’s a genuinely good person.

Michael Cole
So he does a little charity work, whoop-de-doo! Why do you automatically assume that he’s doing it out of the goodness of his heart? Who’s to say that he’s not just putting up a front!

Jerry Lawler
Don’t be so stupid, Cole. Sorry, try not to be as stupid as you normally are. Cena loves and appreciates the fans and does whatever he can to give back to them.

Jim Ross
Well as it stands right now, whether the fans love him or hate him is the least of his worries.

Michael Cole
What? Is he running out of colors for his t-shirts?

Jerry Lawler
Oh please, Cole, you wear that same drab suit every week. What do you know about colors?

Jim Ross
The Wyatts have been hounding Cena for quite some time now, calling him a false prophet among other things, and tonight is the first time the playing fields have been evened out with Cena getting a shot at one of the members for the first time.

Michael Cole
Mark my words, The Wyatts will be the one obstacle Cena will not be able to overcome. You heard it here first, folks.

Jerry Lawler
That’s something that’s said every time a new challenger steps up with the goal to take Cena down a peg and every time Cena finds a way to rise through the adversity and come away with the victory.

Cena stands at attention on the stage, raising his right arm to his forehead in a salute then he races down the ramp and slides under the bottom rope to get inside the ring. Cena races from side to side into the ring, before finally whipping his hat of his head and tossing it into the crowd like a Frisbee. When the chorus of his theme comes around again, Cena raises his arms into the air in his signature taunt that elicits an even louder reception from the fans packed into this sold out arena.

As his theme tapers off, the crowd can now be heard in full force, split right down the middle as far as their opinion on the man in the ring is concerned. Cena pulls off his shirt and launches it into the crowd, giving a lucky someone a special memento of the night they’ve had here. Cena paces back and forth eyeing the stage intently and in the face of this challenge, Cena has never looked more focused. For weeks The Wyatts have been trying to make a martyr out of him and Cena has—



The camera zooms in out the titantron that’s currently displaying a feed of a lantern just bright enough to illuminate the wildlife that surrounds it. A faint whistling is heard somewhere off in the distance, a haunting sound that steadily increases in volume as the source draws closer to the lantern. Finally Luke Harper enters the shot, his piercing wide-eyed stare sending chills down the spines of the masses.



Luke Harper
Tonight, I take up his cause… ridding the world of the splinter under its nail. John Cena, you have tried to make a mockery of our purpose and it is far too late to repent for those sins. For your actions… you will suffer. For your pandering… you will truly know fear. For being no different than Adam Cole…. shamelessly wearing the skin of an honest man… you. will. burn.

Harper begins chuckling devilishly when suddenly the screen flickers and in that blink of an eye the man who’s pretty hard to miss, with that unruly beard and messy head of hair coupled with that permanently stained tank top, has disappeared from sight and we’re back where we started with the lantern being left alone. The screen flickers again and out of nowhere the large form of Erick Rowan engulfs the screen. Rowan has his head lightly cocked to the side and the sheep mask over his face prevents his expression from being read.

We’re here.

Another flicker of the screen and Rowan is nowhere to be seen.





The lights switch back on in the arena to reveal that Cena is still looking at the titantron for answers while Harper and Rowan are right behind him! Rowan charges first but as if Cena has eyes in the back of his head he drops down, pulling on the top rope to send Rowan tumbling out of the ring! Harper goes on the attack before Cena can get up to his feet but the leader of the Cenation continues to battle and after a sharp knee to the gut, Cena takes Harper by the head and tosses him over the top rope and out of the ring! The crowd lets loose with a deafening cheer as Cena manages to keep his wits about him, and soon the infamous duel chants of “Let’s go, Cena. Cena suck!” begin while Cena stares down Harper on the outside of the ring.



“Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!”

Harper’s voice greets us as Breakdown returns from a commercial break and the big man is in firm control of the match, lifting Cena into the air with intentions of hitting a suplex, holds in in the air for several seconds so that the blood rushes to Cena’s head, then drops him to the ground. Harper pulls Cena onto his feet then throws him into the corner across the ring. With a head full of steam, Harper goes for a body splash only to eat a boot to the face for his troubles as Cena barely escapes getting sandwiched in the corner.

Harper staggers back, while Cena props himself up so that he’s sitting on the top rope. Harper comes back for more, trying to make Cena pay for putting himself in such a precarious position, but Cena knows what he’s doing. You have to take risks to reap the rewards and after delivering another sharp boot to the face that knocks Harper back a couple of steps, Cena’s risk looks as if it’s about to pay off in a big way. He gets himself standing on the top rope, dives off with his signature leg  drop, but Harper catches him and turns it into a sit-out powerbomb!

Kick out! The crowd is on their feet after that, while Harper’s eyes widen in surprise. Cena rolls over to the ropes and begins trying to pull himself to his feet, while Harper watches with that crazed expression seemingly permanently imprinted onto his face. Harper walks over to Cena who has finally gotten back to his feet and the big man is welcomed with a big punch to the ribs, though he recovers quickly and knees Cena in the gut. Harper takes Cena by  the arm and whips him across the ring only for Cena to explode into him with a shoulder block!

The two men rise to their feet at the same time but Cena is a step quicker as he charges into Harper with a second shoulder block knocking him off his feet with ease. Cena stalks his pray as a dazed Harper gets to his feet, he throws a wild punch that Cena easily ducks under. Cena hoists Harper into the air then plants him into the mat with a vicious spin-out powerbomb. The crowd gets loud as Cena rises to his feet with his right hand held high in the air.

Everyone knows what’s coming next as Cena bends over Harper and does the “You can’t see me!” taunt. Cena rebounds off the ropes to find Harper back on his feet! Harper side steps Cena and the King of the Ring winner continues running to the other side of the ring. Harper gets a running start, leaps into the air and takes Cena down with a hurricanrana! Cena gets up quickly, jumps onto Harper’s shoulders and snaps off a rana of his own! The crowd is going crazy as Harper slowly gets to a standing base.

“This is awesome!” is being shouted out of nearly everyone’s mouths as this match brings them closer and closer to the edges of their seats. Harper charges at Cena but misses the clothesline and in the blink of an eye Cena has Harper in the air and drives him into the mat with the spin-out powerbomb! Cena skips the theatrics this time and just drops his fist into Harper’s face!

Cena is ready to end this match right here, right now. Squatting down, Cena watches as Harper gets to his feet then lifts him onto his shoulders, now moments away from hitting the Attitude Adjustment but he can’t quite get it off as Harper begins furiously elbowing him on the side of the head until he’s finally able to wiggle free of Cena’s grasp. Cena turns around and catches Harper’s boot inches from his face before the superkick could connect. Cena throws Harper’s leg to the side forcing his opponent to do a 360 degree spin. When they’re face to face again, Cena jumps up and connects with a dropkick!

Forcing himself back to his feet, this physical toll this match has taken on Cena is written all over Cena’s face as he winces from the pain that has been inflicted on him in this grueling battle. But he’s dished out a lot of pain too and he watches as the victim of his attacks in Harper lies there on the mat. From the looks of things it will only take one AA to end this match once and for all, and at this rate, Cena may have only one AA in him. Harper is finally coming to his senses and is midway on his feet when Rowan suddenly climbs onto the apron! Cena charges and throws himself into Rowan sending him flying off the apron! Cena turns around and nearly gets decapitated when Harper clobbers him with the discus clothesline!

Harper receives a mixed reaction from the crowd, appropriate considering who he’d been wrestling. Rising to his feet, Harper looks down at the man he just defeated, a calmness washing over him despite the battle he’d just been through. Rowan slides under the bottom and begins stomping away at Cena’s body, Harper forcefully pulls him off, and goes as far as to slap Rowan across the face, though Rowan doesn’t appear to be bothered by that, then pushes his Wyatt Family compatriot back into the corner. Harper begins shouting some things that can’t quite be picked up until the camera gets in closer and finally he’s heard saying “it’s not time.” Whatever that means can’t be good, but for now all we can do is speculate as Breakdown rolls on…

It's The 4th of July Spectacular edition of Breakdown, and tonight is sure to be filled with fireworks in more ways than one. What match will be next? Who will we see next? Better yet, what will we see next? Well wonder no more, because once we return from a commercial break, we're taken backstage deep within the halls of The James Brown Arena to a specially set up area designed exclusively for interviews. Right on cue, in the center of the camera is Byron Saxton armed with a microphone, and present with a purpose.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm Byron Saxton...and I'd like to take this time right now to wish each and every single one of you a very Happy 4th of July!




[Byron Saxton]
Now while tonight is The Birthday of America itself, last week was The Birthday of one our very own. Her spirits were high, as were her expectations, and well....let's show you what actually happened.

Cutting away from Byron entirely, we switch over to a video highlight detailing the night in question in all of it's key moments. It was Layla's Thirty seventh Birthday, and while no one could believe someone that looks that good could be thirty seven, it was true she was indeed, and it was her Birthday. Lead into a secluded room that had been decorated to the nine by her...boyfr-....partner...creepy guy that touches himself way too much...however the hell you wanna describe Fandango's relationship with Layla. There was a cake, there were presents, but they never got to be opened because it was all downhill from there. Layla although was disappointed by the lack of actual guests to this celebration of her...found this whole setup to be oh so wonderful and seemed to be elated by Fandango's efforts to make her feel special. There was a moment where Fandango teased kissing Layla, and she seemed to be on board with it....however in true Fandango fashion, he instead chose to breathe out the last bit of his name which made that moment somehow even more awkward than it already was.


To help Layla enjoy her cake to it's fullest, Fandango brought out a vase filled with milk. How sweet of him, right? However there was an unexpected guest to the party that next second, the man that smooched Layla last month, and has been screwed out of victory after victory thanks to her and Fandango....CM Punk! He expressed he was simply there to share in their celebration and let them know that given the circumstances, tonight would be their night. He wouldn't go out of his way to ruin it, or attack Fandango again, no it was a free pass, which doesn't come along often when it comes to CM Punk. After congratulating the two on The Birthday, CM Punk with harmlessly slap Fandango's arm and flee the scene. A seemingly harmless moment, quickly lead to utter and complete horror. As the caught off guard Fandango would lose his grip over the pitcher of milk, and it would cover The Birthday girl in a coating of lactic embarrassment!  Her hair, her beautiful dress, all ruined by the flying milk. Her screams could be heard throughout the entire building, and she was livid...


So frustrated, angry, and full of disgust that Fandango's "charm" fell flat in every way. He tried to make light of the situation, or maybe that's just how he actually would respond to a scenario like that...it's kind of hard to tell with a character like him. Still, Fandango would go as far as calling Layla....Lactalicious...and that pretty much says everything that could be said about that. Layla requested that Fandango cut it out and just give her a towel so she could clean herself up...but of course, in her state of mind she started to mispronounce his name. A problem he immediately brought up, only to enrage her even further...so much so that when he turned to get a towel....she would at the same time lunge forward to either claw his eyes out, slap him silly...or sillier...or who knows what she had planned because with him moving out of the way she would start slip on the residue of milk on the floor. It's exactly like you imagine, she start to fall backwards, she tries to stop herself, and she does....but in the worst way possible. SPLAT! She fell face first into her own Birthday cake, and the rage was real! Emotional, crying, screaming, Layla was a mess, and not just because being caked in cake. Realizing how dire this situation had become, Fandango left the Birthday girl in search of more towels, a second before CM Punk would return to the scene to see what all the commotion was about.


There he'd see Layla, an emotional and physical wreck, which couldn't help but bring a smile to his face. Being the sweet man that he is, he does what any man would do in this situation, or the exact opposite of what any man would do...he sings her a tune of Happy Birthday! Her screams mixed in with his own rendition of the timeless Birthday anthem made for quite the audible treat, and it's those sounds that can still be heard as the footage fades, until the recap ends and we're back with Byron Saxton.

Needless to say, things didn't quite go according to plan. So please welcome my guest at this time, Layla.


Following her introduction to the set, Layla soon steps into focus, dressed not in a sparkly gown or any type of dancing garb, instead she's dressed to compete in one of her wrestling attires. She hasn't competed since the night she and Fandango shared their first dance, so you have to wonder, did last week spell the end of this new relationship? Is Layla back to competing not on the dance floor, but in the ring? Although at the brunt of a serious embarrassment last week, The British Beauty seems to have left last week behind her, as she's seemingly in good spirits. Of course you can't exactly judge a book by it's cover so we'll probably find out how she's actually feeling in just a moment when Byron conducts this interview.

Layla let me start by saying I'm very sorry for how things went for you last week on your Birthday.

[Layla]
I don't wanna talk about it, okay?


Before Byron could respond, Layla adds a bit of hypocrisy right off the bat by proceeding to talk even more.  




[Layla]
Last week was supposed to be my special day, a makeup for my previous Birthday blunder...but instead....INSTEAD....it was worse than last year! Not only, was I left in tears....I was coated in what I'm pretty sure was expired milk, coconut cake....which, who in the hell wants coconut cake for their Birthday anyways? Then, I was serenaded by...what has to be the worst singer in the world, CM Punk.

[Byron Saxton]
Well, there's always nex-

You'd think Layla would be done with her little rant, but nope....as Byron tries to carry on the interview...Layla does more of what she does best, bitch.

[Layla]
Oh and not only that, apparently this irrelevant bleached twig with legs returned to XWL and called me, an old....hag? EXCUSE ME? First of all, who in the hell does she think she is? Second of all, the only thing that's old, is people like her talking about people like me just so they remain relevant. Honestly, if she hadn't talked about me last week, would anyone even remember she showed up? Yeah, that's a big negative Ryan.

[Byron Saxton]
Um, it's Byron...

[Layla]
Whatever, this isn't about you. Are you going to ask me a question or are you just going to stand there and let me do all the work?

[Byron Saxton]
Well she did attack Lita last week, so that's kind of why there's so much buzz about her return last week.



[Layla]
Lita? People say I don't look my age, but sweetie...they sure as hell can't say that about her.

[Byron Saxton]
Anyways I do want to ask you about your match tonight with Summer Rae, but first...there's kind of a question I want to ask, if you don't mind that is.

[Layla]
Isn't that what you're supposed to do in an interview? God, are you that dense that you can't even figure out what your job is?


[Byron Saxton]
Okay well, tonight you're conspicuously alone...in the previous weeks we've seen you and Fandango together. Can you fill us in on where he is, or where you two are in your relationship after what happened last week?

Deep down she probably expected that question, but at the same time she didn't. She's stood by Fandango's side ever since he courted her into dancing alongside him....but last week was a pretty big disaster, and while CM Punk's presence no doubt played a role in things going to hell, it was ultimately because of Fandango that her special day went so terribly wrong.  



[Layla]
To tell you the truth, I don't know. Last week was a big deal to me, it was my day, and....I don't care what he says or what anyone else says. CM Punk may have caused all of that, but I've supported Fandango, I've embraced his...uniqueness, and I've trusted him to be that man that I can depend on, that makes me feel...special. Last week he ruined everything, he embarrassed me...and I didn't sign up for this. Dancing with him has been great, and together we've taught CM Punk a lesson he'll never forget. But, as much as part of me doesn't wanna say this, I think we've had our last dance.

Sorrowed by the events that played out last week, Layla while enjoying her time with Fandango, feels as if that's something they just can't come back from. Byron suspected as such by how she initially spoke when talking about her Birthday woes of last week, but this confirmed it. He nods, then clears his throat set to change the subject to make this a little easier on her, despite her naturally never making it easy on him or anyone else. As he brings the mic back to himself, his mouth opens to say something, but a finger presses up against his lips prompting him to immediately look to his right and there standing, of course a little too closely is none other than the man himself, Fandango. He had strolled onto the set unbeknownst to the both of them.  Layla turns away, crossing her arms, avoiding talking to him as she apparently has been since last week's episode.

Fandang-

Byron's attempt to speak despite Fandango's place of his finger didn't exactly work out. As Fandango begins to shush him, moving his finger away and staring at the standoffish Layla.  



When Layla doesn't turn back around, Fandango exaggeratedly clears his throat, to bring it to her attention that he is here. But of course, he seems to be oblivious to the fact that she's blatantly ignoring him.  

[Fandango]
M'lay...day...

Still not wanting anything to do with Fandango, Layla sighs as she just stands there shaking her head repeatedly. Saxton is as always unsettled by Fandango's lack of respecting personal space, but for the sake of this interview, if you can still call it that... he nudges the microphone closer to the dancing superstar.  



[Fandango]
Baby baby, listen...Faaaaandaaaaan....go knows your woes, he sees your pain, and he raises you...forgiveness. I never intended for last week to go as it did, but as the great Kelly Clarkson says....what doesn't kill you....makes you....stronger...

Yeah, he just quoted Kelly Clarkson, are you really that surprised by it? Although clever in his attempt at seeking forgiveness from Layla, she still doesn't bat an eye. In fact, she's still standing away from him, her arms crossed tightly. Maybe she's being a little over dramatic, but he did play a role in ruining her Birthday, which has obviously driven a wedge between them.  

[Fandango]
Honey, this is what he wants....he wants to take us away from each other. All he is, is a common... Punk....he doesn't know how to treat a lay...day...and that's ever so evident by his lack of respect towards you on the night in the question. That was your Birthday, that was your special day....and he crashed the party, and ru....ined everything...but we're stronger than this. We can stand the test of time, we can ace any pop....quiz...and we can wow the judges into a state of euphoric....haaarmony as we daaaaaaance the night away! Take my hand, and together we....will make him rue the day that he messed with me, you, and us...


Layla's stiff posture loosens, and her head begins to turn slightly towards him. He stands there with a smile on his face, a smile that to anyone else....would just be plain creepy, I mean why is his mouth open that big, what's the deal with his eyes, why is he breathing so heavily? But, to Layla....who has become accustomed to his odd charm, it's a little hard to stay mad at.


[Layla]
You....you really...mean that?


Turning fully around to face Fandango, Byron steps back a bit so they can address each other. Fandango extends his hand towards Layla, and she stares down at it with her own hand slowly extending out, only to pull away, and extend back out, and pull away again. She's conflicted, last week was the first time this whole experience wasn't fun, was it really just a bad night, was CM Punk really the one that should be the target of all of her anger?  

[Fandango]
Faaaan...Daaaangooo has never meant any....thing more than he does...right now. I sought after the best....and darling, you're better...than the best...and that's no joke, Jack.

Not a lot of men could get away with calling a woman Jack, in fact that shouldn't even ever be uttered to a woman, ever....but, somehow...coming from Fandango's strange and ridiculously smooth yet off putting tone..it lights Layla right on up. A smile appears on her face, and her eyes glisten as she begins to blush after Fandango's "sweet" words. Without any further resistance, Layla places her hand on his, and before she even knows it, he spins her in close, breathing up against her neck as she begins to giggle in joy. Byron just stands there completely floored at how that actually worked, and no doubt after this is over he's going to find Fandango and get a few tips with the ladies because this is just ridiculous. All is well once again with Fandango and Layla, and while we're still not sure what exactly their relationship is...we can definitely wager that they're more than just...dance partners. After a bit of uncomfortable silence with Fandango nuzzling up against Layla's shoulder, he twirls The British Beauty back across the screen to her original position. Byron then notices both Fandango and Layla are staring at him and he too returns to his post.   


[Byron Saxton]
I think I speak for everyone when I say I'm happy you two were able to work this out. Now Layla, I said earlier I wanted to ask you about your return to the ring tonight against Summer Rae.




[Layla]
Little miss thinks she can dance? Please, what music videos has she even been in? Who did she dance for on national television? Exactly, nobody! That's why this faaaantastic specimen of a man kicked her and her lanky ass legs to the curb. I'm more decorated, known, and overall just plain better than Summer. So she can say what she wants, she can attack whoever she pleases, because my accomplishments speak for themselves. I've been Divas Champion, what has she been? Besides irrelevant, and dumped within the last three months that is.

Not lacking in confidence, a smirk comes across Layla's face after that last remark, while Fandango shows his support by snickering like a creepier version of a hyena. Calming himself down almost immediately he flips his head back causing a stray strand of hair to fall into it's correct place, then raises his hands up in an incomplete fist form.



[Fandango]
Layla's not only a skilled performer...she's also...a major in the art of...fisticuffs. Pow, wow, shi..shi..shaow! Summer won't know what hit her, but it'll be this Moroccan my world...mama over here.


Fandango's eyes lead us over to Layla, who appears to have one final thing to say. Byron shifts the microphone and his attention onto her, as she confidently stares straight into the camera, as if it were her opponent tonight, Summer Rae.  



[Layla]
Summertime is over, just like this interview. But stay tuned, because you know what comes after Summer, Fall. And it'll be her that falls, to me.

Layla's hand joins Fandango's waiting raised palm, and the two then turn away, exiting off the set together. But not before Fandango's other palm graced up against Byron's face, bringing the most uneasy look to his face. Thankfully the contact did not last long, but this backstage corespondent could have definitely gone without having to go through that. Fandango and Layla have made up after last week's disastrous Birthday celebration, and now she turns her focus to her first match in a month, against Fandango's old flame, and recently returned Summer Rae. Who will dance their way to victory? We'll find out later tonight, but as the image of a still uncomfortable Byron Saxton fades away, the image goes to black, and words begin rolling across the screen.

"At one point, I was a highlight."

These fade, moving right into another one. This continues with each sentence, moving on.

"But now, I'm a distant memory. Nothing more than an old thought, a past relic. A figure in the background. But now, I'm far more glorious than what I was. Now, I am on the verge of my return and I have something in my sights. Something I find very interesting. Something, I will do. Now, it's upon you. Prepare, for the true, star."

And then, the screen shatters. Not literally, but on the video. And then, the screen fades out, moving to a commercial break on that odd note.

Nakamura Learns English

-Earlier Today-


Breakdown transitions to the backstage area. We are taken to a well-lit secluded room. A man is shown closing the door behind him as he walks into the secluded room. Across the room we see another man sitting at a table with his head down. The first man begins to speak in Japanese. Subtitles appear on-screen to translate the man's words.


[Man]
"...中邑真輔?"
("...Shinsuke Nakamura?")


The man sitting at the table turns out to be none other than Shinsuke Nakamura. The man stands there for a moment and looks at Nakamura, who still has his head down. After a few seconds pass, a sound comes from Nakamura. A snoring sound.



As the man realizes Nakamura has fallen asleep, he loses his patience with the napping superstar.


[Man]
"ミスター中村、してくださいウェークアップ! 英語を学習するには、ここで、スリープしない!"
("Mr. Nakamura, would you please wake up! You are here to learn English, not to sleep!")


It would seem as if this man is here to teach Nakamura the English language. After being yelled at, Nakamura quickly pops his head to an upright position. Nakamura startles the Teacher with what he is wearing on his face.




[Teacher]
"Aaahh!!!"


[Shinsuke Nakamura]
"ホか! すか?!"
("Huh?! What?!")


[Teacher]
"どのようなことを面上にありますか! マスクですか? では、Halloweenの別の3または4か月のないことを知っているしていませんか?"
("What is that on your face?! A mask? Don't you know that Halloween isn't for another 3 or 4 months?")


[Shinsuke Nakamura]
"これは何を意味することになっていますか?"
("What is that supposed to mean?")


Nakamura points to the mask on his face.




[Shinsuke Nakamura]
"これは私の顔をされています。 「Halloweenの別の3または4か月のいません......」私は醜いんだと言うことを試みているか。 私はこのいまいましい方法が生まれました! 先生のような何をされていますか? 教師が学生、楽しみにポーク奨励することになっています。 ほかに、に付属していたとき......を一つにしていない。"
("This IS my face. "Halloween isn't for another 3 or 4 months..." Are you trying to say that I'm ugly? I was born this way damn it! What kind of teacher are you? Teachers are supposed to encourage there students, not poke fun at them. Besides, when it comes to looks... you're not one to talk.")


[Teacher]

Nakamura removes the mask of his own face and sets it on the table.

("Although there were many errors in that sentence, I'm only going to point out two most important ones. First, you completely left out a word. Two, you can't just add "oh" onto the end of a word.)

("Well, maybe someone is not a good teacher.")


The teacher lets out a sigh of annoyance.


[Teacher]
"とは言っても、私たちは、クラス、後処理し、次の週を実施していく取り去ろうとします。"
("With that said, we're going to wrap up class early and carry on next week.")





[Shinsuke Nakamura]
"どのようなものですか? それは私が言った何かだったのですか? 私は私を助けるために努力していました。 少しは建設的な批判誰を傷つけることがない。"
("What? Was it something I said? I was just trying to help you help me. A little constructive criticism never hurt anyone.")


The teacher walks out of the room, leaving Nakamura in the room with cameras still on him. Nakamura laughs for a moment, before looking into the camera. He shows a grin, then says his signature catchphrase.

"YEAOH!!!"



Breakdown transitions to it's next segment of the evening.

XWL returns from a short break following the previous segment to a scene at the commentary table where, as usual, there's a small bit of bickering back and forth between the three and there's some helpful tads of information sprinkled in.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to XWL Breakdown! The only true flagship show of professional wrestling.

Michael Cole
Yes, welcome back, and we just wanted to quickly remind you of what happened last week. None other than the Olympic Gold Medalist, Kurt Angle, returned live for the first time in months.

Jim Ross
And boy was he entertaining. I don't know the last time I enjoyed hearing anybody rapping.

Jerry Lawler
He was entertaining. That was just on the mic, but tonight we'll see him in the ring for the first time in months as he looks to take on the Swiss Sensation, Antonio Cesaro!

Michael Cole
Now, that'll be an interesting match-up. Both men are very proud of their countries so you have to think there will be a bit more at stake than just the win tonight.

Jim Ross
Both men will definitely want to pull off the win in that one. But right now, we're going to head to none other than Kurt Angle himself for a word.

The crowd lets out a small pop as Kurt's face is shown on the screen. The children seem fond of him which is most likely due to his fun and spirited antics just last week. Right off the bat the crowd can pick out that this isn't the same clean-shaven Kurt Angle we saw last week. Has his schedule already gotten to busy to even support a couple minutes to shave? Well, that may be an exaggeration, but Kurt Angle is certainly more busy these days. Nonetheless, Angle raises his right hand quickly for a small wave before grinning and beginning to speak.

Kurt Angle
Hello XWL Universe right now I'm here with my good friend...



Kurt Angle pauses and clearly has no clue who exactly he's with as the picture expands to now include both men. The second man is wearing a suit and clearly must be some sort of interviewer or fancy man in some sort of highly-regarded position. The suit quickly picks up where Angle left off without leaving Angle a chance to be embarrassed.

Suit
Brian Wilson. Brian Wilson, Primo wrestling website's official editor and also a successful pro-wrestling interviewer from-

Angle quickly and rudely interrupts his sentence before he can complete it, but the Olympic Gold Medalist pays no mind to his friend's feelings as he jollily continues.



Kurt Angle
Right, Brian Wilson. That's exactly what I was going to say before you cut me off. Now, Brian, where are you from?

Brian Wilson
I'm from-

Kurt Angle's face turns a light shade of red as he quickly interjects

Kurt Angle
Woah, woah, woah. Hold it, buddy. I thought you were the one interviewing me?

Brian Wilson
I am the one interviewing you, but-



Angle cuts him off again. Brian clenches his hands a bit tighter and you can see the frustration beginning to mount.

Kurt Angle
Stop that! You ask questions. You don't answer questions! Now, where are you from?

Brian Wilson
I'm from-

Kurt Angle
God damnit! What is the size of your brain? You ask me questions and I answer them. You don't answer my questions. This is a one way street because Kurt Angle doesn't go both ways! Do you go both ways, Brian?

Interviewer Brian hesitates before responding as he can't even fathom answering wrongly yet again. Then, he comes up with a sly way of responding.



Brian Wilson
Do you want to know where I'm from or not?

Kurt Angle finally breathes a sigh of relief that the interviewer has finally caught on. No more questions from Kurt and the interview will go much more smoothly.

Kurt Angle
Finally, you're doing your damn job. I was going to have to break your freakin' ankle if you tried answering one more question. Now, where are you from?

Brian Wilson
NO, NOT THIS AGAIN! DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHERE I'M FROM?

Angle responds nonchalantly as if he's not even sure why the interviewer is so infuriated.

Kurt Angle
Well, yeah. I did ask you.

Brian Wilson
I'm from Canada! Finally, finally we got that out of the way!

Oh, no. Just by the look on the two men's faces you can tell how vastly they are on different pages. On one end just looking at Angle you can tell he's vividly brainstorming how to rid himself of this un-American while the interviewer is just glad he's finally gotten past the introductory to the interview.

Kurt Angle
Wait...

Brian Wilson
What?

Wilson smiles to himself as he's just asked Angle another question, something which is hard to do, but Angle cares about something much more important to him.

Kurt Angle
You're... Canadian?



Brian Wilson
Well, yeah. I am.

Kurt is beyond disgusted with that response.

Kurt Angle
Get out. Get the hell out of here!

Angle stares into Brian's face as he doesn't budge. Brian cracks up laughing which was clearly the wrong move at this juncture.

Brian Wilson
Oh, god. You almost had me going there. You're a real kidder, Kurt, aren't you? You, you... you...

Brian's words tail off as he sees Angle now getting up and picking up the chair he was once sitting. Kurt wields a dangerous weapon now and, sensing Angle means business, Brian Wilson stands up, puts his hands up as if to say "whatever, I'm out," and he walks off the screen notebook in hand. Now, free of that nuisannce, Angle is finally free to speak his mind on his upcoming schedule. He places the seat back down, violently, shakes himself off, and begins speaking.



Kurt Angle
I thought he'd never leave, damn Canadians. First, he won't even do his damn job right and then he has it in him to tell me, a real American Hero, an Olympic Gold Medalist, that he's not American! As far as I'm concerned, if you're not American, then you're a terrorist!

A voice can be heard behind the camera.

Voice
Kurt, I really don't think you can just call all foreigners terrorists. I don't think anyone wants XWL to get sued. Maybe you could get away with calling a muslim a terrorist, but have you ever seen an Australian terrorist? An African terrorist? A Japanese terrorist?

Kurt responds with uncertainty.

Kurt Angle
Are you serious? I see them all the time!

Voice
Kurt, do you know what a terrorist is?

Angle seems insulted at this notion, but he answers it seriously nonetheless.

Kurt Angle
Someone that the average three year old girl is terrified of, yes, of course I know what a terrorist is.

We can't see the reaction, but it's got to be laughable. Even the crowd collectively lets out a chuckle.

Voice
Kurt, I hate to tell you, but I think you're a terrorist.

Kurt Angle
Did you not see me last week? I'm great with kids!

Voice
I'm done. Just get on with what you were saying earlier.

Kurt Angle
About... Canadians?

Voice
No, about Cesaro. How about you talk about your opponent for your return match?

Kurt Angle
You're a much better interviewer than the last guy in here. You should have his job, you know that?

And, very quickly, the respect Angle had for the cameraman is shot down.

Thanks! I-



Kurt Angle
Nevermind. Anyways, tonight, I go one on one for the first time in one heck of a long while when I take on the self-dubbed Swiss Sensation from a European Nation. However, it seems nobody has told him that no one cares about his European nations because there's only one nation worth talking about and that's the United States of America! Oh it's true. Every European country in the entire world could team up and the United Stats would beat them in anything! You name it, we can beat them in it! I guarantee it... Except soccer because nobody likes that.



Kurt Angle
So, Antonio Cesaro, tonight is the night I go Olympic on your ass because, although I may not get a gold medal for this, I'll have just as much fun kicking your Swedish ass as I had fun kicking the ass of whatever the hell schmuck Sweden threw at me in the Olympics way back in '96! Oh it's true, it's damn true!

Kurt Angle caps off his segment with a very genuine 'oh it's true, it's damn true.' The fans cheer, but you have to imagine this is just because we're in America and the moment Kurt Angle sets foot in international ground he'll become an instant heel. For now, Angle is going over pretty well with the fans. They love his antics and the chuckles and pops along the way are just evidence of that.

Well, Kurt Angle everybody! He sure is a funny guy.

Michael Cole
And tonight we'll see if Kurt Angle can back up what he's said here tonight. If America is as great as Angle says it is, then this shouldn't even be a close contest!

Wasn't it the greatest? There was hair pulling, face smashing, it was a regular cat fight woo hoo!

Faaandango's new lay..day proving that she's not only still got it, but that she really is superior than Summer.

[JR]
A lot of people talk a big game, but very few back it up, and Layla falls into the category that does.



Grooving to the bit of their theme, Fandango begins to wiggle around ringside as he watches Layla get her hand raised in victory by the official. Summer just lies on the mat holding her neck in pain, The Layout has been utilized by Layla for a number of years, and it always seems to do it's purpose, which is to lay out the other divas for a count of three, just like she did to Summer tonight. Though the crowd isn't especially fond of either lady, they're still not happy at the result, due to one simple fact. Layla was the blossoming crowd favorite, and ever since she got mixed up with Fandango she's lost herself in his weird aura, returning to her old wicked ways and attitude.


[King]
Poor Summer, she lost her man and now she lost her first match back.

[JR]
According to Summer Rae, she's the one that ended things between she and Fandango.

[Michael Cole]
Oh please, that's what they all say.

[JR]
The truth is we don't really know what happened, very few details have been recovered from their time away from XWL, so our guess is just as good as anyone else's.

[King]
I should go console her, poor girl she needs a hug.

Which if she does she's asking for trouble, Summer nearly won this match, so this loss if anything will motivate her to victory against whoever has the misfortune of being her next opponent.




Fandango struts over to the ring apron, just as Layla steps through the ropes and onto the edge of the ring. Looking back at Summer one last time, Layla begins to mock her with a gesture that acts like she's crying. Clearly rubbing in the loss, and not at all showing a single sign of humility. That's the old Layla we loved to hate, and apparently she's back. A wicked smile appears on the face of The British Beauty, then she flicks her hair back and releases her grip of the ropes, falling backwards in a huge, well...not really huge, but a leap of faith all the same. Fandango was right there, waiting with his arms out to catch his lay...day and the victor of this match. Layla adds salt to the wounds once more by caressing Fandango's face, then planting a kiss right on his cheek which brings the biggest and most annoying grin to his face.

You know this win could influence the XWL audience to vote Layla's name in The Divas Championship Match with Madison Eagles at Digital Decision.

That's right, there's just two more weeks left to send in a name, I'm still so torn, I wish I could vote them all!

But you can't, King. Who will face Madison Eagles? Will it be Layla? Will it be Summer? Anything is possible, and we'll find out in two weeks when the results are in.



Together they begin to ascend the ramp, Fandango carrying the victorious Layla to the back where they can plan a celebration at that restaurant he always seems to have reservations to every single night. Seriously, did he find a bug in his soup or something? Who the hell has that many reservations? This partnership not only seems to be benefiting Fandango who just recently became undefeated again, but also Layla who gets an impressive victory that could secure her up some votes in the Digital Decision Divas Championship Match. It's not long before we fade away to the image of Layla and Fandango who had stopped at the top of the stage to add one last insult to injury by making an exaggerated frowny face towards Summer Rae.

When I was in my adolescence, I questioned everything around me. I was rebellious. I believed the world to be harsh and unfair. As I grew up, learning to loathe the society in which I was part of, I found an escape from it all. Music kept me sane, or perhaps its what guided me safely into the insanity I have become today.

Then, on a dark day, the art form I viewed as my savior abandoned me. It no longer allowed me to escape from the hideous reality.

'What am I going to do?' I would scream and plea, fearing for my own mind as it spun and spiraled into the oblivion that is... Life. It was at this time, I was introduced to a knew therapy.



It was then that I discovered I was sadist, but even more, I was a masochist. I found my new escape. These weapons were tools to help me reach my destiny.

Pain, my own and that of others, was my new savior. An abomination to some, but a hero to me. I found the more I caused pain the less the world seemed to curse me.



These are my instruments. With them I create a chaotic orchestra of agony and sorrow. After so long working as the conductor, I have never truly had my own master piece. It is for this reason I am here.

 

XWL, I am the devil's advocate. And I'm coming. Quote the Raven...

Fresh off a commercial break, cameras cut backstage to where the former Divas Champion, Paige, is shown walking down one of the arenas many corridors with purpose. After many twists and turns, she finally finds what she's looking for, a door with a sign that reads, “Breakdown General Manager: Stephanie McMahon.” She looks at the sign for a moment before knocking on the door, quickly yielding a response from within the room that leads to her opening the door and walking into the room.

Paige, to what do I owe the pleasure?

{Paige}
Were you watching Breakdown last week?

{Stephanie McMahon}
I was. Why do you ask?

{Paige}
Good, then you saw what happened after I beat Tamina in that ring.

{Stephanie McMahon}
I did. What does that have to do with you being here?

{Paige}
It's apparent, isn't it? I want a match against the so called “Beautiful Fierce Females.”

Stephanie chuckles to herself, clearly not taking Paige's request seriously.

{Stephanie McMahon}
Let me guess, you want “revenge” on the BFFs because they attacked you after your match, which, correct me if I'm wrong, was after you verbally assaulted them prior to that match?

{Paige}
You can call it revenge, I just want to... repay them for attacking me twice in the past month.

{Stephanie McMahon}
Even if I were to grant you this match, how exactly do you think you would beat both Sasha and Charlotte by yourself?

Before Paige could reply, she's interrupted by an all too familiar face. The camera zooms out to reveal none other than Bayley, who stands on the spot and waves in excitement at both Stephanie and Paige

{Bayley}
Hi Steph!...Hi Paige!

Paige lets out a sigh as once again Bayley at her side, whilst Steph see's more of a light side and smiles at Bayley.

{Bayley}
Paige can beat the BFFs by herself! I know it! But...I can help her! We can take on the BFFs together! We'd be a great team...You saw what we did last week! We'd take on them together and beat them together! Then We'd celebrate together! We'd be the best team ever!

Once again, Paige is cut off, this time, by Stephanie, as an idea seems to have hatched in her calculative mind.

{Stephanie McMahon}
You know, Paige, I think I will grant you that match, but it won't be a handicap match like you would have liked, no, it's going to be the BFFs taking on you and your partner, Bayley.

Almost simultaneously, Paige lets out a “What!?” as Bayley's face lights up at the announcement and quickly hugs Paige, who can't believe what just happened.

{Paige}
You can't be serious.

{Stephanie McMahon}
I'll show you how serious I am, Paige. Next week, to see how well the both of you will do as a team, I'll will put you both in a tag team match against two opponents of my choosing before your big match at Digital Decision.

Bayley has almost become ecstatic at this while Paige is on the opposite end of the spectrum and appears to be dreading their match in seven days.

{Bayley}
Oh my god..We're partners! We can do double team moves! I'll give you another headband! It'll be great, you don't have to worry Paige! We'll beat BFF's...We'll beat our opponents next week then we can team forever..WE CAN TRAVEL TOGETHER! We'll be best friends!

Paige doesn't share the clear delight from Bayley, as the look on her face says it all, before Bayley then turns to Stephanie.

{Bayley}
Thanks Stephanie!

Bayley then lunges forward and gives Steph' a huge hug! Stephanie tries her best to push Bayley away but the vice like grip on Bayley's hugs is too much, Bayley finally lets go and still has a huge smile on her face

{Stephanie McMahon}
It's clear the two of you have..issues. So you better work on them next week because just like every other match at Digital Decision the fans will get to vote on the stipulation. The fans can chose from three options in your tag team match.... Option A is an Elimination Match, Option B is a Tornado Tag Match and finally Option C is a No Disqualification Match. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some important business to attend to, you can show yourselves out.

With that, Paige begins to walk out of the room, her arms crossed over her chest and less than pleased at the outcome of her time in Stephanie's office. Meanwhile, on the opposite end of the spectrum, Bayley can barely contain her excitement as she follows Paige out of the office, telling her about all the fun they'll have as a team before the cameras fade to black.
